Hi Chris

I have cool-tone skin but I wear both silver & gold. I prefer muted metals though.....

Hi Chris --

I'm another cooler-toned metallics person (works with my skintone). I have silver through platinum and mauve. Rose-golds that skew more rose and less gold work but I haven't found one in style that works for me.

Have fun looking -- metallics really are super-versatile as long as you like shiny. [I do!]

I love it all!! Bring on the metals!

In all seriousness...I have dark ashy blonde hair turning silver in places so both silver and gold if soft work rather as "bookends" to my hair. Even a very gold toned gold bookends. Both silver and gold also work as near-nudes for my fairly pale skin. I don't currently own any rose gold, but I would love that as well. And pewter makes an incredibly versatile neutral; I wore pewter sandals as my everyday sandals for two years running and couldn't seem to find an outfit they did not complement.

I will mix metals in an outfit without problem although I'm sometimes selective about the mixing.

I have found that rose gold and pewter are both fantastic neutral footwear colors for me. I have ballet flats in both colors, plus a pewter Dansko mary jane from a few years ago. If the outfit skews warm I go with rose gold, cool then pewter. I wear mostly silver jewelry.

I have been fascinated with metallic sneakers lately. I just added these KSwiss rose gold ones to my "collection".

I have always preferred silver, because I think it goes better with black and the cooler tones that make up most of my wardrobe. But I bought a pair of gold sandals last year and wore the heck out of them, so I may reconsider that.

I wear both gold and silver footwear. I prefer gold as a metal though, and wear that more frequently to match belts, bags and sometimes the hardware in my outfit. I have both gold and silver watches and wedding rings - so swap them out too. But I DO prefer the gold, and it works better with my hair. (Both metals work well on my complexion).

I usually go with bronze or rose gold colored metallic shoes. Jewelry wise....rose gold or white gold only for me. Just personal preference for most of the female members in my family.

I don't wear gold or rose gold at all, and usually wear silver-coloured jewellery and hardware. But I find silver shoes difficult to pull off unless they are very strappy with lots of skin showing. I think pewter is a bit better. I prefer a low contrast generally, which probably drives my preferences.

I prefer pewter or bronze to silver or gold. I find them more neutral and more go-with-everything.

Which reminds me that I haven't a good metallic shoe right now, having worn both my pairs to death over the past few years.

I go with both, currently i have silver boots, brogues, booties and sandals & I like the shimmer from the silver & I wear mostly cool tones that complement the silver well

I also have a gold sandals, which I find a bit more interesting than a tan--but they work similar for me it could be a netural/close to my hair color when I want lower contrast footwear. I also like the glam factor of the gold, it feels good for a little summer boho/greek inspired feel

I mix happily and love metallics as neutrals. Gold goes best with my skin, but silver goes best with my hair and I wear both warm and cool colors.

Another metal mixer here. I have an assortment of metallic shoes and sandals (including one pair of sandals that mixes 3 metals). I treat them as light neutrals (like I would treat white, cream or taupe) and am not overly concerned with the warm/cool factor. (I often mix warm and cool tones in an outfit anyway.) I usually choose which pair of metallic shoes to wear based on the jewelry and handbag I will be using that day.

For me, metallics are a more interesting version of a neutral shoe. Hence, I prefer golds/bronzes which more closely match skin tone than silver.

I'm a metal-mixer, and would go equally with both. In recent years, I've been breaking myself of an almost all black shoe wardrobe, and silver booties and sandals have been added. And, I have one pair of slides that crisscross with silver, gold and bronze.

There has been a lot of great discussion about metallic shoes/sandals lately. I'd like to hear how people decide which color to choose for their wardrobes. For example I tend to think of gold as going with warmer colors and silver going with cooler colors, and bronze and rose gold can go with either. Then there is low vs. high contrast consideration..

How do you decide and what works for you? .
