I think I'll try the masking tape trick too, with my slimmest bootcuts. Thanks

Good, I mostly wear straight legs anyway. I usually wear flats but I've been loving casual heels more and more, and I've been planning to replace most of my jeans soon.

They shouldn't drag on the ground, but they should just "touch" the ground when you are standing up straight. When I walk, my leg movement scrunches the jeans up anyway, and none of my jeans have been ruined:

I'm confused by Anna's statement that pants should touch the ground. It seems to me that if they touch the ground they will get ruined very quickly. Am I missing something?

I suspect the solution is skinny jeans - keep them long with some "scrunch" and they'll accomodate different heel heights.

I'd be particularly careful about wider leg pants. The wider the leg opening, the more critical perfect pants length is, in my opinion.

I cannot imagine wearing 4 inch heels myself! Those days are long gone for me. Even 2 inch heels are difficult for me these days. Enjoy while you can!

This is not a permanent solution and takes a few minutes to do after each wash ( you can get three wears out of it before it starts to fall apart) but you can use masking tape to "hem" your jeans when you wear with the lower heels. This way you can try it out with both heels to see what sits (or should I say stands) best for you.

Is an inch too much of a difference? Maybe it's not absolutely ideal, but it's practically unavoidable if you wear heels. Maybe the only way to make sure your heels are all the same height is to stick with flats, but I love casual heels.

If you want to keep perfect pant length, then you should commit to one heel height, or else have pants that you wear specifically with your 4" heels, ones for 2" heels, etc. Pants should touch the ground, or be within 1/4" of it with your shoes on, so a difference of 2" in heel height is too much. You wouldn't be able to achieve that with 2" heels and 4" heels on the same pair of pants. Does that make sense?

How much leeway do you have when it comes to heel height? For example, do you think I could do a 2" heel and a 4" heel with the same pair of jeans? I mean without adjusting the length of the jeans.
