I got my dad’s light eyes and freckle- and burn-prone skin, LOL. </p> <p>I am debating whether the white skirt needs a small hem, but I like the drama of the length. These are my flattest sandals, which is actually how I like to wear a maxi skirt. I have to cinch it firmly at the waist so it doesn’t fall further down when I put my hands in the pockets, LOL. </p> <p>Brooklyn, I’ve been pleasantly surprised to find a couple of these wide-legged pants with ample length! I also got a pair from Sanctuary (a brand that often works well for me) and sized up to a L to get the extra ease and length. Fortunately I like cuts roomier in summer so it works. I like it! </p> <p>Please ignore total lack of hair of makeup attention, or any styling beyond slipping on the sandals I had readily available. </p> <p>Also, the sky may be falling… I bought a white skirt. At the Rack, I spotted this long cotton number, and almost didn’t try it on because the only one there was a size small. Well, it’s cut very roomy because it fits with room to spare! All cotton, and partially lined (you can see where the lining ends, which doesn’t bother me, I actually kind of like it), it is one of the lightest, breeziest things I’ve ever put on. I wasn’t 100 sure of it, because I’m so not used to wearing white on my bottom half, but my husband saw it with the white top and loves it. Blues and creams are a big feature of my summer wardrobe, but this year I've added several pieces of dark brown to the mix and have loved it wearing them, especially with the blues. I had a lot of dark brown in my F/W wardrobe, but none in my summer one. All the browns there were lighter shades. Dark brown and blue is a beautiful combo.</p> <p>I also enjoy wearing dark brown and black together as well, and since I have a few black sleeveless summer tops, a skort and a pair of shorts, I think I'll start wearing them with my new chocolate pieces in our high heat!</p> <p>I really like your new henna brown trousers. I tend to wear darker colors in pants and skirts, and like having brown as an option for that. My favorite summer colors are cream, coral and turquoise and they all work well with brown. I’ve worn them in the past, especially chocolate brown that doesn’t skew too warm. They can pair so well with the blues I like to wear too! </p> <p>I think I crave them for the contrast they provide for all the cool tones in my wardrobe. It can start to feel a little stale to only wear head-to-toe cool colors, as much as I love them. </p> <p>I tried on this pair of wide leg linen blend pants last week, and went back to the store and bought them yesterday after finding they kept popping into my head as a good piece to pair with my summer tops in blues, whites, and greens. The brown is “henna” according to the maker (Bella Dahl), and I find it’s easy for me to wear on the bottom half, not near my face so much. So far, my favorite pairing I’ve looked at in my closet is with my blue denim Rag &amp; Bone top below (although I don’t like how they styled it in the stock photo). I love and wear that top so much, I ordered it in the white version too, which is really nice — breezy without being see-through. I’m not averse to duplicating an item so distinctive if it’s this much of a summer workhorse! </p> <p>So begins my return to brown. The same cut in navy wouldn’t interest me as much. These work as a color and a neutral for me. </p> <p>Does anyone else find brown useful this way? </p>
