I am actually wearing H%M chinos as the only pairs to ever fit me! I wish I had bought every color this summer now that I discovered how well I really like wearing chinos. And I am a pear, with huge thighs so finding chinos that have a decent waist, wide enough legs for the thigh and slim slowly down and do not make me look like a ice cream cone was hard. I say, go out and try them all...you will find the cut for you somewhere!

I second what missvee just posted--especially about wearing boots over slim-legged pants. The boots help to balance out the hips.

I'm an hourglass too and I find that any fabric is fine ( including chinos) but I have to watch that the legs are slim but not tight over the thighs. Thats the key area for me. For the knee down, boot cut, straight or slim are all good silhouettes. I like the look of slimmer ones tucked into a mid calf moto type boot, or worn with a bootie or flat. If you are anything like me you have to try on a lot of pants to get the best fit. Some of the popular brands like Gap are too short in the rise for me, so I end up on a real hunt. Banana Republic can be an option, but again it's all about the fit. I'll be following this thread to see if others have any good suggestions !

Dear hourglasses and pears, do you wear chinos/tapered trousers? All I can see now in European shops are skinnies and chinos, and I'm not sure if I can pull off that look considering my wide hips and rather unsightly knees. They would be OK with boots, I suppose, but it's still warm around here. What details should I look for? What kind of shoes would be best to wear with chinos to "minimize the damage"?
