Update: I wore my top to a run yesterday. At 3.3 degrees it was a cold morning by our standards. It did help with the warmth, but it is quite difficult to get off, so it might just act as a placeholder until I find something else

It was good for my cycle home on Friday

Jenni, I had a look on isobar. Thanks, but could not find anything there.

Janet, I am definitely considering a buff or similar, though mostly for other challenges of cold, like ears and neck. I was hearing all about them after parkrun last week!

Is it possible that something to just prevent cold from entering at your neck is the solution? I warm up quickly and the first thing I want to do is open my collar. Would a buff do the trick? I love them because they’re multipurpose and east to shove in a pocket when you warm up.

Have you checked the Isobar range from Ezibuy? I don’t own any but always think they look surprisingly good? Some items are merino. ( I always felt like they part-copied the Icebreaker name.)

A sleeveless jacket may work. My husband runs in a hi vis one similar to what Clara linked to. Of course a tank isn’t warm on upper chest- poor reading be me. A muscle shirt design may work?

My thought is that you are generating heat when biking or running, so you don’t necessarily need something warm but rather something that holds the warmth in. Cycling vests are great for this—they are usually thin, not bulky, and a front zip means they are easy to unzip if you break a sweat. You can choose a super lightweight one (like the one below) or one with more insulation if you want it cozy. And of course even if it is made for biking, you can use it for *whatever*!

I got some possible hits searching for ‘running Dickie’ (somewhat to my surprise, to be honest!). On further examination I guess they’re just dickies, but there are some plain versions that might work?

I did a search on ‘cropped vest open sides’ and found one thing, that’s probably not from a legit seller…

Merino stuff does have a great reputation, but the singlet shape is not quite what I am thinking about as it leaves my rather bony above the bust area exposed.

Something like this but sleeveless is what I am envisaging

I have a merino singlet/tank that I can wear alone for running or layered under tops. Could wear over the top too. Mine is Macpac from a few years ago and it is really useful.

I could wear it with a jacket casually too but I don't do this because I wear it once or twice a week for exercise.

Now, it's winter, I am finding I get cold running and cycling on my upper chest. But especially when running, I don't want to get too hot.

I have been imagine a stretchy, sleeve less garment I could layer over a running top, a bit like a halter top.

Online I have seen this https://www.thewarmfront.com/

But that is about all.

If course, we are not as cold here. I am talking about temps of about 5-10 C. Once I am warmed up, most layers come off

Any thoughts?
