Nicole, I'm a little late to the party but I think you should totally go for this one. At first I was a little skeptical when you said knit vest but looking at the picture, it looks very hip and cute - not Mr. Rogers at all! It looks like vests will be big into the spring & summer too so it will probably be a good investment. I'm not quite a believer just yet - I sported this look quite a bit in the early 90's and it just feels too soon for me!!! But I am really loving how many of the ylf members are sporting them so my mind is slowly turning. Fashion cycles are crazy...

so, it took me awhile (and a google session) to figure out what your title meant... I'm assuming it's a weight lifting vest? Very funny, now that I get it! :)

Anyway, I too love the idea of a knit vest. Hope it works out!

I like the idea of a knit vest. Thanks for posting a picture. I haven't worn a vest since back in high school, but so many people on the forum have had great results I would like to try them again.

I hope this one works out for you!

Nicole - I've been looking for vests too. I just love, love, love them. I found two off white vests, but neither looked good on me. Here are the links in case you want to try them (GAP and ATL):

Thumbs up. I wear a waistcoat all through the year. It's not a seasonal piece unless it's in tweed. I would love a cream one to wear over black tops.

I think this vest is worth a try, really cute.
Since your mother is a seastress, have you looked at the patterns for vests? I have and they are tempting. If your mom makes one for you ofcourse she can leave off the little pockets that you don't like. You can look at Vogue, Butterick, and Simplicity online, and the patterns go on sale about every other day.

I think the vest is adorable. As for a woven vest, if you know anyone who sews, they are fairl easy to make. I even know where to get a downloadable pattern for free. I've made one so far, and hope to post pictures soon. The benefit of making one is that you can leave off the pockets if you want, as I did.

Here's the link to the pattern if anyone's interested:

Nicole, I really like the esprit vest you showed. I think you should try it, but I agree with Maya that you shouldn't give up your search for a woven one. I actually asked Angie about vests for spring and summer:

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....?replies=8

and she said yes. I recently bought a navy pinstripe one that I plan to wear over tees when it gets warmer. I think it just depends on the fabrication-- the one I got is cotton with a satin back.

Nicole, that vest seems like it would be perfect for you as far as fitting over the bust. The pockets might be less of an issue since the material is not rigid as in a woven vest and will better conform to your shape. That said, it will come at a cost: one of the things I love about the vest Angie chose for me is how it's basically like a comfortable corset that gives me the shape and structure of a fitted jacket.

As for the question of season, Angie said vests over sleeveless tops is a sweet look and I tried it myself. I would love to find a white vest for summer. It's just such a versatile look for me that having one is just not enough.

I've been looking for a vest all winter. I was hoping to find a structured woven vest, but that has proven difficult. One thing I noticed is most vests have little pockets that are meant to be hip pockets...but these pockets always land too close to my bustline. Sometimes actually ON my bustline. That seems to be just as much of a problem as actually finding one that fits over my chest.

Anyway, I saw this knit vest at Esprit, that has the lines of a structured vest. Would it work? OR would I look like Mr. Rogers? They also have it in black. I"m not sure where those little pockets will land though. Grrrr...

Also, are vests mostly fall and winter items? Or what should I look for in a vest if I want to wear it into spring and early summer?

http://s289.photobucket.com/al.....2_0121.jpg
