I live in a four-season-climate (more like four-season-A DAY-climate). But this time around I intend to keep everything out. I have a relatively small wardrobe, and am fairly happy with its inventory at the moment. Most of it fits and feels fresh and on trend. So I'll see how it goes having everything in sight and on hand. I can easily wear my heaviest knits on chilly summer nights, and my rain gear is in heavy rotation year round etc. I hopefully will have to retire my snow boots for a season or two, but I won't be putting them away. Good luck to you!

Thank you for your replies and the tips! Life got away from me and I couldn’t answer these and I left the clothes all over the place which just has made me anxious!
Tomorrow I will be back at it! And I will take a closer look at the ideas you so generously gave me .

Oh yes. It’s a big to-do. I have to crate and uncrate. Nowhere near ready tho. The days are longer, but it’s still rainy and cold.

I don't find it too bad - harder from winter to summer when there is the washing and dry cleaning before putting away. Summer to winter is easier as it is easy cottons etc.

I keep 2/3 of my closet out all the time but I swap in and out the true winter and high summer pieces. At the moment I am in the transitional period so I have brought in skinny jeans and boots, but not yet true winter woolies - coats, beanies etc I have removed shorts, summer flat sandals, beach dresses, and one or two summer pieces that I am over for the year. I mostly swap over for the shoes as I only have room for about 16 pairs and I used to have 20....however wear and tear means I am down to 17...

Momo - tips - I think music, boxes or storage ready and an easy dinner that night!!

Yes. I take it slowly because hand washing all the sweaters takes time. I have limited drying space. The heaviest and darkest woolies get put away first.

Done in 20 minutes! My closet is 'all out' and I sort by colours. Whites get moved from back to front, and black goes to the back (blue and colours in the middle). Winter outerwear goes to basement closet and S/S outerwear moves up to hall closet. Winter footwear gets polished and weather proofed before being put away (so maybe add an hour!)

Yes but I tend to do it in bits as our weather can be a bit erratic and I don’t want to provoke the weather gods by putting all my jumpers away yet.l have put my heavy coats away though.

I'm done with winter too-lets boycott it :)
I put my hats and heavy scarves to the top of the closet and brought a bin of sandals down-but thats it so far! I want to put my shovel in the garage-and put my snowboots and warm coat away- but figure Loki will retaliate if I do! We have gotten snow in April....

I do! It is time consuming and labor intensive because I clean every single item before putting it in storage. I have the closet space to keep my entire wardrobe in one place (I couldn't say that pre-YLF), but I don't want to see winter clothes when it is high summer.

I am planing to do that next weekend but I am looking forward to it. It is not really swith over for me, since everything is easily accessible, but I will wash and clean everything that I don’t plan to wear any more and will re sort according to seasons.

I don't have a lot to changeover, so tend to take it in phases - sweaters first, then shoes, then relook at pants and tops. Its easier for me to do in sections so I don't get overwhelmed. Good luck!

I actually love to change my wardrobe to a new season. To avoid chaos, I recommend changing one or two categories at a time, e.g. outerwear, dresses & skirts, pant & jeans, blouses & woven shirts, pullovers, hosiery, footwear, scarves ... I try to do it all in one day and in a few hours, but sometimes I will have to leave a few categories till the next day.

It definitely gets worse before it gets better! Especially when one is doing a review of the new season’s clothes as one brings them out. Piles everywhere for days. I just try to make it fun by putting on an upbeat playlist every day for an hour or so while I chip away.

Ha! I started yesterday. At least I switched out the tall boots for sandals in my closet (booties and other shoes stay in the same place year round). In the process I culled six pairs of shoes and identified needs/wants for spring/summer. I also took a swipe at my jeans and pants, since I’m adding theee pairs of straight leg jeans to replace two old straights and a pair of skinnies. Tried on a bunch of things and was heartened to see they still fit.

It’s definitely a process! Good luck!
