A great poem, and so true!
It does feel strange when your family is spread-out after all being under one roof, but you know you have done your job when they are ready to spread their wings

Tracy, I got goosebumps reading "we have such wonderful conversations in our home daily and the energy is so high and contagious".

I don't think you and your husband could have done anything else to better prepare them all for life.

Your post reminded me of this poem:

Khalil Gibran "On Children"

Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

I thought I was going to have this last summer together before the major change of 3 off my 4 children spreading their wings and going off to graduate schools and college...

It's going to happen much faster than anticipated with DD heading to Boston College at the end of May for graduate program...DH is super happy as this is his home town... I however ,hate the 12 hour drive and the close proximity to a narcisstic and bipolar out of control mother-in-law who've we had to limit in our lives...but that's a whole other story...

In June my oldest finally found a good roommate situation and will be moving out as he will be finishing up graduate school closer to home living in our city but going to Old Dominion University one city over...He's an introvert and I am so happy he found a roommate he likes and knows through work..

My soon to be high school graduate and dare I say closest to me child is applying for an accelerated program that takes 4 weeks of his Summer and is only for pre- health students to set them up for success as they begin the long road of medical education...

And my youngest homeschooler wants to go to a weeklong sleep away camp this summer as well... A big step for this child and I am doing a happy dance over this!

And there might be a trip to ST Thomas in July for DH and I if he wins it through work...

Anyway so much to do these next few months to get them all situated, so may be seeing less of me on the Forum, although I will probably still post outfits since I am doing them for my blog anyway...Not sure I am ready for only one child left at home as we have such wonderful conversations in our home daily and the energy is so high and contagious.... But boy are we going to have fun spending quality alone time with our youngest his last four years before college...

Thanks for just letting me get these thoughts all out,it was feeling overwhelming, but somehow writing this relieved the anxiety I was feeling...
