Sarah I also have a white ceramic watch which I purchased a year ago. I wear it almost every day and I love it. It is looking as good as new and I have not had any trouble with it at all. I do make sure I put it on and take it off while standing on a carpeted area tho:)

I bang my jewelry and watches all the time, I will destroy a ceramic watch in no time. I went with plasteramic lol, a plastic watch by Toy watch.. I love it!
It is similar to this one:

Ha, I think I notice the banging much more ever since I got a watch with a huge, heavy face, since now it makes a LOUD noise when it bumps into things!

MaryK, thanks for relaying your story. Glad the replacement is going strong!

Diana, i dont *think* i bang my watch around too much but there are a few deep scratches in the stainless band of my citizen. So I obviously hit it on something some time!

Hmm, do you find yourself banging your existing watch or bracelets on things? I know I would never be able to handle a ceramic watch because I bang my watch/bracelets on walls, tables, etc, all the time. I am a klutz though!

I have one that I LOVE, and I haven't had any problem with chipping.

But.

One evening it got caught on the lining of my sleeve as I was removing my coat, and one of the links broke in a place that couldn't be fixed, so the watch was ruined. It was out of warranty by that time, and I loved the watch, so I bought another one exactly like it and have had no problems with the new one. I'd say the first one lasted more than a year of almost daily wear, and the replacement is going strong after more than two years of averaging-twice-a-week wear.

I have really been thinking about a white watch for the summer and I really love some of the ceramic models.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ.....PDKIKX0DER

http://www.overstock.com/Jewel.....oduct.html

But... I am not the easiest on things and have two young kids who are constantly pulling on my watches & jewelry too. And with Angie's shattered band story and a lot of the reviews on these watches cite chips.... Are these isolated instances or the norm?

I know the look wouldnt be quite as posh, but I considering just getting a new watch band for a watch with a pretty white w/silver face/gold case that was recently acquired from DH's discard collection. He has had it since HS 20 years ago so it's durability is a proven commodity. (Pic 1)

http://www.endless.com/Hadley-.....B005EJGZC4

What do you think? Will the new band give this watch a fresh summer look or drop money on the ceramic and hope I don't break it?

P.S. I am also lusting after a large gold tone mens watch will likely be a "share watch" btwn DH and myself... maybe spend the money there instead of the ceramic.

Would love your inputs! Thanks!

ETA: do i just order this one from Nordie's online (none local) and hope their telephone customer service is as outstanding as in store should I develop any problems? Anyone have experience with this aspect of their business?
