http://www.ljpoisk.ru/archive/4198675.html

This is an article about the fashion photographer John Rawlings who worked for
Vogue in the '30's. He's credited with introducing fashion looks on movie stars
and celebrities. The article is loaded with pix.

I have no interest in seeing red carpet wear. Or maybe it's today's red carpet wear. :)
I'm partial to a dignified awards look but OTOH I do like the confectionary Marchesa
looks.

What I really want to see are the candids of celebrities just living their lives - though how candid can any shot be when they know they're going to be photographed and perhaps plan their outings accordingly for publicity. I also am interested in their
dressy daywear - very hard to glimpse. Perhaps not enough awards are given
out at charity luncheons.

The reason I like the "ordinary" clothes is that my own relationship to clothing is
very cinematic/role playing. I don't ever really feel the clothes are "me" but part of
a dress up game I'm playing.

Uh-- I guess my only plug for actresses as models is that often times they are more voluptuous than professional models. Even though she is short and I am taller, I have a lot more in common body-type-wise with Jessica Simpson than I do with most models, and therefore have a greater sense of how I would look in a similar look or the pieces she is modeling. I have a great imagination--- but sometimes even I can't put "mental breasts" on ladies that have none and would look like they were smuggling fruit under their jumpers if they did.

My BF just remarked night before last about Jen Aniston on a cover. He wondered just how much she makes doing it. I remarked the actresses have taken over models' jobs slowly but surely. Revlon, Cover Girl etc is now J Lo and Drew Barrymore, etc etc. BUT, the models have tried to act since forever also. Guess everyone wants what's on the other side of the fence lol. I agree with whomever said one slim, pretty faced lady or another, it doesn't really make a difference!
I am also not much for the ball gowns on red carpets, except for the fashion dissection later by Joan ha ha!

I can't be bothered to care either way. I like the idea of shorter women getting some glossy action, but then I remember that they're all photoshopped to the moon and back, anyway.

Having a celebrity model for a fashion layout really doesn't bother me. I get more perturbed by their street style photos usually. I will see a celebrity pic, and then a "get the look for less" spread, and think "Why are we trying to emulate that look?"

I'm not a fan of fashion spreads in any case since they are often over-styled and not useful in real life. And I am a person that worked in retail print advertising for years and years! So whether its a model or some starlet, I don't really look at those "fashion" spreads for the fashion. I do enjoy looking at the photos as art....

If I want fashion inspiration, I look at bloggers and "street fashion" articles where I can adapt ideas to my real life.

Many starlets do modelling as PR for their acting careers. And many models cross over to acting. There are no real boundaries any more.

yeah the models were more fun. but I guess celebs appear on those covers because that's what the magazine editors want.

I miss the days when professional models were on the cover of fashion mags. I honestly am so turned off by seeing celebs on covers. I can't buy the mags fast enough on the exceedingly rare occasion when they feature an actual model.

I also like seeing what certain celebrities really wear. What I don't like is seeing a photo shoot where they wear others' clothes as if they were models.

Somehow this irks me. They have the fame, the glamour, the income from their music and/or acting careers -- must they take the spotlight away from professional models as well?

I have a few celebrities in my heart who I really like so I also like to look at what they wear: Cate, Helen, Kate, Emma, Gwen, Kate (lots of Kates!!! You can guess which Kates they are). Other than that, I am not interested in celebrity fashion unless it's on the red carpet. I love ball gowns

I do like to take a peek at their "WIWs" (street style, so to speak) but I am not really a fan of styled shoots -- like those are realistic. I'd rather look at bloggers' outfits than celebrity ones, since celebs usually have stylists or too much discretionary income and they tend to be quite faddish. I appreciate the average person's style more.

I have no particular opinion about it, I guess. One ridiculously thin and beautiful young woman is much like another for that purpose, whether she models full time or as a sideline to an acting career.

The trend toward featuring celebrities in fashion magazines honestly leaves me cold.

I don't mind glimpsing a celebrity's actual wardrobe, but dressing up actresses for fashion shoots? Not a fan, and I just don't get it. I mean, do models show up on movie sets asking to play leading roles?

I'm sure I'm in the minority or this wouldn't be so popular. What do you think of this practice?
