Smittie, thanks! I really love the citron belt.

Gigi, I like the Gap perfect tees. I have three and they are pretty much the only basic tee that I buy. They are 100% cotton and I like the vee isn't too deep. They are straight cut down the sides and fit true to size for Gap, so order whatever your usual size tends to be. I'm a 6 and buy tees in a small, if that helps.

Manny, thanks!

I've really been enjoying your WIWs! Numbers 3 and 5 are my favorites from this round. No. 3 is polished but laid back at the same time, and I love all the little details in no. 5.

How do you like the Gap t-shirt? I was thinking of trying one. How do they run for sizing? Are they designed to be a loose fit?

Thanks Donnat and Rachy!

Suz, you're spot on that 6 is most consistent with my style. I just can't figure out how to get there on a regualr basis. I have a harder time finding the right pieces in the summer.

Joy, boho is the other shadow style that comes out in summer for me too. And seconded on the natural fibers!

My favorites are 1, 5 and 6. My summer wardrobe is more colorful than other seasons and has more natural fibers, but I don't think it looks preppy. Hmmm, I'll have to pay more attention. I suspect that mine (summer) looks more boho and it has lots more pattern.

I like all of these but especially #6, which seems more compatible with your F/W style while still adapted to the heat.

Thanks Ankita, LavenderMoon, Jenn and Donna! Outfit 6 was my favorite and felt the most "me" of the bunch, so I'm happy others liked it. I just need to figure out how to make the rest of my summer wardrobe closer to that!

Isabel, that expression is my long-suffering one to my DH, who is lovely and takes outfits photos for me, but with a lot of "smile harder" and "don't look like a crazy person" commentary that I try to keep a straight face through. :)

Eva, thank you! I think you do a really good job of keeping to your style year round. Obviously there's variation across the seasons, but you always seem consistent to me! But agreed that summer is the hardest season to dress for.

Angie, thank you! The pattern matching was unintentional that day but noted for the future.

Cheryle, thanks! I see the metallic shoes becoming a fall workhorse.

You look so great in waist surrendering looks! And to my eye none of these outfits read super preppy, if you're looking for reassurance. I really love that scarf on you; the fabric is fine enough that it doesn't look seasonally confused to me.

I definitely feel like my summer look is a bit different than fall/winter, but since I lived in Texas for a few years, I spent a lot of mental energy figuring out how to translate my favourite style aspects into suitable hot weather looks. So these days I still feel like myself during the summer; it was a struggle though!

The last few weeks have been crazy so I haven't been super active around the forum lately, but I've been managing to snap a few photos at least. I've also been coming to terms that my summer style is inherently preppier than my winter style. Mostly due to my choice of natural fabrics and more wovens in my wardrobe to handle the heat. Any one else have feel this way in the summer?

All comments and suggestions welcome!

1) Worn on a particularly cool (for summer) day. This shirt doesn't come out often but it great for transitional weather.
EF top, Gap jeans, Report shoes

2) Worn out to happy hour. This dress was a recent purchase that I'm hoping will transition well into fall with leggings and boots.
Everlane dress, Miz Mooz sandals

3) Work outfit. I felt very northeast preppy in this, like I should be visiting Cape Cod, which isn't my style goal at all but was nice in the heat.
Loft top and crops, Coach shoes

4) Another slightly preppy work outfit. I keep trying to make this skirt work because I like the print, but dresses are much easier for me because I'm short-waisted. How are the proportions here?
Gap tee, Loft skirt, Coach shoes, Kate Spade necklace

5) Worn to a casual networking event after work.
Zara top, Gap jeans, Seychelles sandals

6) Seasonally confused. It was a little cooler but instead of grabbing a topper, or even a shirt with sleeves, I went with this oversized scarf. But I did like this outfit.
Everlane too, Aritzia pants, Softspots shoes
