Angie, you made my day. This type of dress has been my favorite since I was a wee one! Thanks so much, Diane G! The jeans were a real surprise to me, but I've been wearing them steadily. Haha, April! It was a clearance-rack find from Macy's. Rather a wild card at the time (nearly 2 years ago) but it's slowly been finding its place. Helps that it's really very well-made; it's got stretch in it, AND the pleats fall so smoothly but not stiffly. Aida, your analysis is so helpful. I was hoping that the shoes mostly went gray; it's tricky knowing how a pattern will "read" at a distance. Interesting that you like the pink with my hair! Sometimes I feel like it fights a bit. I LOVE the sneakers and am already mourning the time when they will start to look sad and die. ;) Shevia, thank you for your opinion. I've been experimenting with chunky sweaters more in the 2 months since that picture, so it's good to hear it's not terrible. The color of the sweater helps a lot. It's not visible in the picture, but there are thin metallic silver strands in the yarn. Subtle. :) Cerinda, I'm not sure I've worn that dress and coat together! Get a much better sense of both your retro and retro-inspired looks. #1, 3, and 4 pop right out at me ( nice layering with modern proportions in #1, love the BIG tassels on the scarf in #3, and of course both dresses look brilliant on you). I don't mind the shoes not exactly matching in #5/6; the shoes read more as a false plain gray. Manny, I'm always trying hard - it's good to get some positive feedback. That #4 dress was kind of a wild card for me, and I don't wear it all the time, but it's been a real winner. Alassë, I love adding or lengthening sleeves. It's my most common change at eShakti.  I'm glad you like the checked skirt; it looks really good in the pictures, though I was nervous of wearing it. I've had the #8 sweater for several years, but the color still makes me happy! It's showing up a little more peach than it actually is - it's a coral/salmon, just short of being pink. Royal blue light sweater dress, a favorite item my mother found for me in the junior's section at Macy's some years ago. I love how it skims my curves and still manages a tiny bit of hem flare.  I paired it with a rose gold leaf pendant, in addition to the usual black tee, leggings, and boots. #3: October 29. Navy Out. Cotton shirt dress (Find), navy suede snakeskin belt (my first and only purchase at Talbot's), navy tights, and navy booties. For accent, a dark red bird print scarf. Because TASSELS. #4: November 3. Soft purple and lipstick red cotton dress, customized with long sleeves. Rose gold pumps. #5-6: November 8.  Fine gauge purple-pink mockneck sweater. Navy and white checked skirt (discussed in <a rel="nofollow">this thread</a>). Navy tights and black and white glen plaid shoes - which I struggled with! I don't think it's obvious that they don't match. Statement necklace in silver, with danglies in various pink/magenta colors. #7: November 12. Mixed media top in greens and grays. White faux leather pleated skirt. Heather gray cable tights and booties. I rather liked this outfit; it was fun to wear white in winter, and the colors were all cohesive. #8-9: November 12.  Not as happy with this outfit, because I changed it totally with the topper on. But it was okay for choir practice in a cold room. Salmon pink sweater and AE jeggings. Metallic blue sneakers. Black back-peplum jacket with light blue pashmina. Carmel-colored lace-up boots. (If my hair was blonde, these would bookend beautifully.) #10-11: November 19. Another experimental bumming around outfit. Mint green chunky sweater and AE jeggings. This is very daring for me - the sweater is very blocky, and jeggings are a new concept. It needs a third piece, but I think I was rushing out the door. Metallic blue sneakers again. I LOVE these.
