Excellent way to dress lace down. Very nice with the chambray and snakeskin flats and I love the contrast with the color saturation and textures (lace vs snake print). Fabulous!

Thanks to all for the thumbs ups and observations! Angie, thank you! I'm.glad because it feels happy and fun and yet easy to wear, too, without feeling fussy.

This is NOT a work outfit, but instead of being put off by that, I can enjoy it for what it is, and that it is a bit easier to achieve outside of the workday ( for me) and that still feeds back to.more fun with fashion. Plus , it's a yardstick for other outfits, and I think I can try to translate some of it to goals for work outfits.

This looks great! The denim shirt works perfectly for a casual outfit with this skirt.
I think a darker color wouldn't be as good because it wouldn't be as casual. You could even wear a lighter chambray one with it, too.

I think the ballet flats look good. Pointy-toed flats would look great, as would the right oxfords.

Great outfit- enjoy!

Very nice! I love the colors and pattern together. The shoes totally work, but IKWYM about the rounded toe. Have you considered a pointy-toe ballet flat? I can't walk for miles in mine, but I can tolerate a pointy toe much easier than I can a high heel.

Love the color combo - I agree, a darker denim might look too matchy with the navy in the skirt. Very springlike and lovely.

ylf!
I think I like this better than darker denim actually (hard to say without seeing it!). Although dark denim would pick up the lace, I think it'd also be kind of confusingly dressier/matchy matchy, whereas with this, it's clear the outfit is casual - extra fabulously casual with juxtaposition! - but casual and seasonal.

Looks totally fab! I love you in a shirt collar. See how it improves the overall proportion?

I think the shoes look terrific with this. The denim/ lace mix makes it look current.

I have this same shirt, I believe. Mine is maybe the dark one, although in the photo yours does not appear light.

The outfit looks great to me! I like the red ballet flats and the denim shirt. I can't really tell too much detail on how the shirt fits from the way you're standing, but it looks okay in this picture.

I have been looking a bit for a denim or denim-like shirt to casualize my Tracy Reese lace skirt for spring/summer. I am targeting a shirt and not a denim jacket because for me that makes a really wearable outfit off the bat, and I don't have to also get the right T-shirt or item under jacket and what to do when take jacket off.

I haven't looked for ages, but I have tried a dozen or so shirts and so far this one from BR is best though still may be off in fit--this is XS and it pulls just a bit at the bust, but the S looked too big. Goals are I want the flap pockets and the buttons to be brass or gold/copper toned, slightly fitted but boxy enough to slide over the skirt, prefer non-tab sleeves.

A wardrobe goal is to find some nude or tan summer oxfords for this outfit and others, but I haven't found "my" shoes yet. I think that would help since all the other items are sort of classic. However, in SYC I have these red lizard ballet flats. I'm trying not to buy any more ballet flats as the snub nose looks less fresh to me, more girlish, but these fit well and are comfortable. I had never considered them with the skirt until I cast about in SYC, and I think the color actually works. They were probably an impulse buy a year ago, but I really like "darkened" colors such as is achieved by the shades of red and black in the lizard.

I am on team hose/tights with this skirt, and so a sandal won't do it. I need a closed-toe for nude hose (though could do a summer closed-toe slingback if I find one).

I am still happily looking for some other footwear, but I want to get some that I will really love and wear with multiple outfits. But in the meantime if that does not turn up. is this a wearable combo? Or too staid? I need to be more on Team Wear Now and have fun, as I have a real problem in waiting so long to get a perfect outfit together that its parts may then be outdated or hang in the closet for months.

Also I thought I might like a dark denim better (the skirt lace overlay is navy) and just found that BR has the same shirt in dark denim on-line. It just gives a different look, I guess and the lighter blue is perhaps more summery.

BR denim shirt
Tracy Reese lace skirt
Lucky flats
Patricia Nash printed leather bag

Critique? Yay or nay on this as-is would be helpful, along with other ways to tweak or style it in the future.
