Hm, I don't remember the name of the wash! I was overwhelmed by the names of all the jeans

Great idea for the bermudas! I'll examine them more closely and see how well that might work.

If you liked the Elsons the Ambers will fit the exact same. Try hunting the 28s down online.

As for the Huttons, aren't they great? I have the Dark Paris wash. It's very dark. The Elsons and Ambers are in the same exact wash, supposedly, but they look lighter than the Huttons. What wash did you try on?

As for the white bermudas, just remove the pockets. Lots of people here have done that and it works great.

I was able to drop by Nordstrom today before picking up my girls from school, so I had a whirlwind denim try-on-fest. Here's what I determined:
- COH Kelly: They only had the low-rise--too low for me!
- COH Amber: They didn't have any, sadly.
- COH Dita: These petite jeans fit great, except the rise was too low.
- COH Elson: They only had one pair in size 29. Fit a little loose all around; maybe the 28 would be better. Nice jeans.
- COH Huttons: These were my favorites, probably because the rise was just right and they were very flattering. Now to find the perfect wash!
- Hudson bootcut: These fit very nicely too except I would have preferred a higher rise.

I also tried some other random stuff (including denim and white capris from Joes, NYDJ, MK) but didn't like the fit.

My big disappointment of the day was that I received a pair of white bermudas that fit great (Diesel Painetty), but they have a show-through problem The material is fairly thick, but I have a fairly dark skin so you can really see white patches where the pockets are. Ugh.

Anyhow -- thanks for your input ladies! This is really helping my jean shopping.

I have the same issue. I usually look for a higher rise in jeans. I have a great pair of white BR jeans that fit really well. I bought a pair of ON clam diggers for this summer but the fit is just so so (little tight in the waist - if I stop eating sweets these might be O.K.:).

Shiny, on the huttons, were the true to size or did you size down for shrinkage? None of my local stores carry huttons and I sometimes see deals online but always hesitate because I don't know what size to order. I am a 28 or 29 for most premium brands but there is so much variation in brands!

If you liked the J Brands, I suspect you will like the COH's even better. J Brands were "almosts" for me... the fit was nice, I just didn't like 1) the orange contrast stitching and 2) the heaviness and stiffness of the denim.

Try the Ambers, Elsons, Huttons and the Kelly's..... Ambers and Elsons are the same except the first is bootcut the second is straight leg; the Huttons are more of a trouser cut made of denim that is so soft you feel like you're wearing sweat pants!

Angie -- I haven't tried Hudsons yet; I'll give them a shot. And I have never been to ATL before! Is that like a casual version of AT? What do you recommend from ATL?

Shiny -- I like those INC clams! I'll have to go to Macy's and try them on. And thanks for the low-down on the COH and UO jeans. I'm intrigued by the COHs, since they seem popular here.

Premium denim I've tried are Joes, Paige, J Brand, AG, and Radcliffe. Out of those, my fav is a pair of J Brands (although I have two other pairs that don't fit that well). Hopefully I'll have better luck with the other brands you ladies have suggested!

For denim clams, try Inc (Macy's store brand). These:

http://www1.macys.com/catalog/.....ryID=19302

I think they are sold out in the regular size online, if you need that. (I am petite). Try the store. These fit great for slim thighs/butt with wider waist. They are more of a mid-rise, and the denim is very lightweight, which is ideal for hot summer weather. They do not feel too tight or binding at all - very comfy! I only wish they made the exact same, in a white denim! I am still looking for white denim clams myself.

For white jeans, I have Citizens of Humanity Amber bootcuts. You might also try the Kelly's - I understand they make them in a low AND a mid-rise (at least 8-1/2 inches, maybe 9?). I tried the Kelly mid-rise on awhile back in dark denim - did not buy because I have enough jeans, but they fit great and were super comfy with loads of stretch.

If you want dark denim skinnies - and have slim calves and ankles - I would recommend Urban Outfitters high-rise cigarette jean. For $68 they are a good deal, but be forewarned they are super super slim! And, they do shrink quite a bit, so start with a size that is a tad too loose. They are very comfy, feel like you are wearing running pants.

I am new to this problem as just a couple of years ago I was having the opposite situation (too big in the waist, too tight in the hips and thighs), but so far I have had great success with Rich and Skinny. I got all of mine at a steep discount. They are usually pretty expensive. Shiny has a similar body type and she loves Citizens (also pricey though).

So today I went shopping, with a goal to find
1) black capri leggings,
2) white jeans, and
3) white or blue denim clamdiggers

I was successful finding the leggings (Old Navy; they hit me around the widest point of my calf, yay). However, I got very frustrated looking for items 2 and 3. I tried Old Navy, Banana Republic, Gap, Ann Taylor, J. Jill, and Marshalls.

My problem is that, if the pant fits me in the rear and thighs, it is too tight in the stomach area. I can go with a lower-rise pant, but then have problems with muffin top!

So any suggestions of brands to try would be greatly appreciated.
