The new puffer looks sensational, Jules! The socks are a playful and fab addition - you are right to show them off at work with clogs :)

And fun that you have the green cord CORD dress!

Leather or faux leather is warm for cold days worn with players wool sweaters and wooly sock with boots. It looks rich for a mix look and cable or cashmere sweaters.

Continued the high/low, minimal stripes trend today...
COS green cord dress,
very old Buffalo brand thick pant-styled black leggings (they are very snug fit and were about to be purged, but I end up wearing them under a dress every winter so they will survive another year)
green Canadian-made boot socks from greatsox.com with stripe detail
the Martino boots again (not even considered true snow boots by this Montreal brand, but more than good enough for my -15 C walking and transit commute!)

The whole collection of items looks so cohesive!

I agree with Suz (and you) about the usefulness of mixing high and low...I've also had "fast fashion" pieces turn into surprisingly long-lived workhorses.

And I'm wearing Canadian boots today too!

The boots and socks are gorgeous, outfit makers. The puffer is great, that high collar keeps out a lot of cold.

These look like great cold weather pieces.Winter dressing can be Very same-y so it makes sense to invest in good quality pieces that you enjoy wearing.

Agreed Suz! It's not all or nothing and it would difficult to pull off local/sustainable/premium for all of our basics and essentials. As a practical matter it just makes sense that there are great Canadian options for coats and boots! And I've learned that investing in those areas (both effort and money) pays off since winter is so dominant.

This might be the new version of hi-low dressing: carefully and mindfully chosen higher end pieces made by local companies, with a few faster fashion items chosen to meet the budget and size/ availability requirements.

Maybe it doesn't have to be all or nothing, right? ALL buy less/ buy better (i.e. more expensive) or ALL fast fashion (which in my own closet, at least, carefully chosen, tends to have longevity beyond what anyone might predict.)

I love this outfit for you. The parka is amazing!

I have fallen into this pattern of dressing quite naturally of late. Deep winter isn't the most practical for complicated outfit creation and accessorizing. Despite the simplicity, I am thrilled with my new Rudsak puffer now that it's finally cold enough to wear regularly; my made in Canada Martino boots; my Montreal boutique socks that I started ordering during Covid as a pick-me-up; a quality striped tee from local brand Wear Franc; and some faster-fashion essentials from Muji, Zara, and GAP.
Yesterday: Zara cargo joggers, yellow MUJI sweater, striped socks, Boston clogs worn at office to show off the socks ;)
Today: GAP chocolate cords and brown boyfriend cardi, striped Wear Franc Tee, Martino boots
