You look GREAT, Jenni! KILLER, and one of my faves on you.

The pattern of the pants is texturally fab with the glitz of the top, shine in the shoes, and metal of the necklace :)

Sounds like a fun shop! I like your pants, they look great with that sweater and shoes. I find a print can be quite versatile.

Regarding pants sizes, I like when they are listed by the waist, although I agree that can vary a lot. That is my problem area and I have to buy to fit my waist and adjust the hips when necessary. And always the length of course :)

Hidden pockets? In women's bottoms? And (presumably) deep enough to actually use them (for something other than a mint & a coin)?? It's a sign - I'm glad you heeded it, lol!

@Suz I also avoid bottoms sized by waist sizes - a 30" waist but 40" hips is the reason why I'll never know if sz29/30 denim (the most common culprit) will ever fit my natural waist... because I can't get the bloody things over my hips first to test them out, lol!

Jeans sizes in N. America are by "waist" but that is a bit unclear since waists can be high or low, and the actual garment measurements can be much different from the numerical size.

But typically, a 25 in N. American jeans corresponds to a N. American 0, which might be a UK 4 or 6, a 26 corresponds to a N. American 2 which might be an UK 6 or 8, a 27 would be a N. American 4 or a UK 8 or 10, and so on.

I won't even get into the EU or Japanese sizes!

Thanks everyone! Interesting to know the brand is from Montreal.
Zaeobi, the quality feels stellar, there are even hidden pockets sewn into the front waistband which was the final sign to buy them!
I’m intrigued by the sizing comments everyone has and am very pleased that I was able to try them in-person with this doubt over which size equals which. I’ve often seen the pant/jean sizing on the forum like you mention Carla, eg 29, but have never understood that system and what the 29 number means. Inches?? I vaguely wonder if I have seen that when last buying a daughter some Levis in about 2005!
The last flat lay photo is warmer things to wear with them in a couple of months. I can put leggings or thermals underneath to add warmth if I need to. But our winters not being that cold, I can often get away with thinner pants if my top half is warm enough with merino.
Zaeobi I used to avoid printed pants for the same reason as you but I gradually felt it was limiting me too much not to try them so this is my second pair.
And thanks so much kkards for commenting on the length, I felt happy it showed the shoes off well.
I didn’t even think about colour, pattern, texture and shine in these outfits but it’s nice to know several of you noticed it!

Your new pants are great, love all the different textures and shine in this outfit.
Yes Joseph Ribkoff is indeed from Montreal and his brand has been around for decades. A definite go-to for dressier pieces.

I thought what you thought - that UK sizes were 2 sizes higher than US/CAN sizes, but I just packed up two M&S dresses UK 14 that don’t fit - too big! I’m a 29/8 in pants, but a 10 in tops. Maybe the sand is shifting!?!

I always look at Joseph Ribkoff because of his ‘made in Canada’ items. He does have a reputation for traditionally classic items and dressier items including things with a cocktail/formal wear vibe. The silver foil t-shirt I’ve had since 2016. FWIW, it’s roomy (I was 15lbs heavier when I got it) and says US/CAD size 12, UK size 14. Good thing you got to try it on.

Nice score. They look good! Your ‘flat lay’ (last photo) is yummy with an excellent mix of pattern, texture, and shine!

Such a fun yet classic pattern! I tend to stay away from printed bottoms out of fear of drawing attention to that part of me, but you pull them off with aplomb - they seem fairly versatile since they can match many different shades & colours I've heard of that Joseph Ribkoff brand before & have admired their clothes, but have never seen them in-person. How does the quality feel?

Yes, I also thought a CAN/US10 was equivalent to AUS/UK14 - since that's also supposedly my trouser size! (Well, UK12 waist & UK14 hips...) International sizing is such a headache - this is why I never buy non UK bottoms (trousers/ skirts) without given measurements, lol!

That’s what I thought too Jussie! So I was confused, but they fit anyway so that’s what matters. I am now closer to an NZ/AU size 12 although some of my size 14 pants still fit well. Some are too big now and need to go soon.
I am not good at understanding pant length so I shan’t comment on that.
I always thought UK and AU sizes are the same, and US is two numerical sizes below. US 10= AU/UK 14…….

Those are really fun pants, Jenni! I like the colour blend and they work amazingly well with your bronze shoes. I love a good patterned pant. The only ones I currently own are checks of various kinds, but my oh my, they do inject fun into the wardrobe.

They sell this brand at independent boutiques and a few chain stores in Canada and the US, though each store will pick and choose which items they carry. They're a Montreal line, I believe.

I am not sure about the sizing equivalents -- I would have thought it would be larger in the UK version also, but I tend to go by measurements because each manufacturer is a bit different. My typical CAN/ US size is 3 numerical sizes smaller than my typical UK size.

Thank you Canada for designing and making my new pants! I actually bought them the same day as I rejected the “cheap as chips” (not) skirt, because after leaving that area I deliberately drove about 2 suburbs over to a shop I like but rarely visit, called “Simply Wonderful Clothes” - not much imagination in that title but oh well! This is a boutique but out of sight different to the snooty sort- lovely friendly older female owner and her assistant. My matching red top and shoes were complimented the minute I walked in :)
They have an amazing sales area there. The purchase is serendipitous but also partly planned as 12 out of my 13 pairs of pants before these have over 30 wears and some are looking worn. So I was thinking of getting new pants anyway.
Half price sale still $125 but not $250! Joseph Ribkoff made in Canada. Says Can/US/Mex 10 equals UK 12? Thought it was usually UK 14 equivalent?
Also, I had to hem them. Is the length good for the “new shorter full length”?
Perfect matching/toning for several items. Thanks for looking.
