I used to be a web rep for Jiffy steamers and I have the big one with wheels. It is fab. Great quality, a product I believe in.

I was at Bloomingdales at lunch looking at their housewares and saw a new machine - I think it is called 'Swash' or 'Swish' - can't remember - and it is a machine where you put a garment in and 10 minutes later it is freshened up - there are 'pods' that are a kind of cleaner that go with it. I can't find a picture on their website and the pods are pre-order so maybe it is a new product? It looked interesting! I don't know the price -

I appreciate these recommendations too. I've had a Steamfast on my amazon wish list for a while: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0007.....#038;psc=1
It's cheaper than the Rowena or the Jiffy, so it might be a decent first option to try out.

Thanks, I will check that steamer, GP.
Dianthus, my Rowenta was the best until it died. Then I bought a newer upgraded Rowenta and it does not have any juice although it has the same watts as the older one. I am very disappointed that they ruined a good brand.
I will try the Conair this weekend, too.

I had a conair and one other one and then upgraded to the Rowenta. They all worked quite well and I could steam my way through a dozen knit tops in a few minutes. I gave the other two to my mom and fiance. They like them but don't steam and iron anywhere near as much as I do.

I swear by the Jiffy E-Steam travel steamer. I use it at home all the time. It takes about two minutes to heat up and you get about 15-20 minutes worth of good, effective steam. I paid about $70 several years ago for mine but it's even cheaper now. I use it all the time. Still works like new. Read the reviews. The only thing I would change is to add an on-off switch. To turn it on, you just plug it in but it's not a big deal.

I did, Suzie, and it seems that people are unhappy with the newer Rowenta models.

Joyce, have you searched on Amazon? There are usually lots of reviews for things on there.

I had my Rowenta for a few years but it died. I got a new Rowenta but it's nowhere near what the other one was.
It does not steam properly, the clothes still have wrinkles when you are done and it takes its sweet time.
My old one was 1500 W and the new one has the same potency but it really does not steam the clothes with ease.
Has anyone tried the Conair?
Do you have one that works for you?
Have you bought a good one recently?
I will be returning mine to BBB.
You guys are my last hope, otherwise I will have to return to the iron which I am hoping to avoid.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions that you can offer.
