It does help if you have a longer torso because then you can make it look very intentional, but I don't think that's necessarily a requirement. I have a high-hip length denim jacket and a properly cheeky cropped denim jacket... and the cropped one gets worn ALL the time; that high-hip jacket is rarely worn, even though I primarily wear pants and it's the right length for pants. Go figure.</p> <p>Your example outfit sounds like it would work wonderfully! And by coincidence, I'm wearing something awfully similar today. You said your secondary bodytype is apple so that might be a good thing. I need to hide my tummy in skinnies, in any jeans really, so I like a longer top but the cropped jacket helps with leg lengthening. And so does Una. And Sveta sometimes does it, too. I think in all cases it is a question of getting the proportions right for the person. </p> <p>I find my own eye is a bit untrained to this look, and also, for myself personally, due to proportional issues, I have a bit of trouble making it work. For me, it doesn't work with a high contrast between top and bottom or either of those and the jacket.
