I really like shape wear and wear it often when it's not hot weather. I just feel better and stand straighter. I often don't really need it but like the support. Although I wear a size 4 in most things, I usually buy size large shape wear for support but not feel squished or uncomfortable. I'm old enough to remember the days before spandex and wore girdles with bones that poked. I was rail thin but needed to wear them for the garters to hold up stockings. Modern fabrics are wonderful! Pantyhose and tights are wonderful.

To me, shapewear and underpinnings are not the same thing. A good fitting bra or pair of panties can do a world of wonder to how your clothes look, but I gave up shapewear and will not go back to it. The clothes have to fit and flatter without a hot, constricting garment undderneath for me to be happy. (I do use my Dr. Scholl's Rub Relief stick on my inner thighs to combat chaffing, though)

What Gaylene and Suz said. I am SO into wearing beautiful and well fitting underwear. It makes my outfit feel and look better. I can't stress that enough. Glad you were sorted

I suspect ill-fitting lingerie is the culprit behind a host of fitting problems. I know that wearing a buttoned shirt became so much easier once I started wearing a properly fitted bra. Well-fitting underpinnings not only make clothes look better, but I firmly maintain that they also improve one's body image. It's hard to feel ugly when you are wearing silky, lacy, pretty undies that enhance your curves and feel comfortable to boot.

I agree with Suz about SAs. I wear a DD bra so without a great bra my clothes never look right

A really great SA (and a great relationship with her) is worth so much. Confidence-boosting and practical.

I always think of Rae when I make a comment like that and imagine how fab it would be to run into her on the shopping floor.

I've rescued an orphan dress with the right slip (It was sheer, so I did not wear it.)

And my whole wardrobe feels better now that I have some properly fitting bras. Even (or maybe especially) because I am very small up top.

Farm to town drive y'day for tonight's big shindig. After posting my photos, realized new shapewear was essential. Some confusion on where to even look...duh..Nordies. Met my new favorite SA Johannna...while wrestling w excessive elastic, I asked her if they had another item:

Undies like boy shorts only a tad longer to help w chafing in my new overalls. Off she goes, comes back w the coolest britches that are mildly shaping but super comfortable. I thought of my only skirt, never worn because I prefer pants...maybe it'd be comfy with these underPANTS! Bought 2 sets, even though it is no-spend month for 9 more days. $30 and 2, maybe 3 garments seem wearable!

Question: have you ever rescued an orphan by buying proper underpinnings? Maybe it's not me, it's the lingerie.

P.s. Johanna and I have an appt for a bra fitting in Aug when I come back to town. Meeting her made it seem way less scary. Actually almost fun.
