I really like this look too but haven't seen anyone in real life wearing it yet. I have had the same questions myself so thanks for the thread. I definitely think I would keep it for a weekend look.

I think I would wear the OTKs a little higher than on the model--first they seem more likely to stay up when they have cleared the knee, and second I am short, so they would naturally come up higher on my legs. I wonder if some socks have those silicone bands the way stay-tights or strapless bras do to keep them in place?

I have "fat knees" so a pair that actually were tight enough to stay up, on me, would create unwanted lumps. Sadly. I love the look, though, and think that esp. with hose under they could really work easily with a shorter skirt...I like the way Maya did hers, as well, with a little scrunch. The scrunch might offset any "sausage" effects, too.

I agree with Angie and Maya, fabric and overall outfit style will dictate if the look is school girl or not.

Mine do not give me sausage legs. I know I have relatively slim legs, but I don't think the fear of sausage legs should stop anyone from trying. The ones I got at NAS actually ended up getting returned because they were too loose and kept sliding down. There are so many variations of this look.

I also don't think OTK socks are juvenile. Depends how they are worn.

I think if you (at the risk of self promotion) did what I did and scrunched a pair of OTK socks down to knee high, it would create texture and volume that offsets the shorter hemline the same way slouchy boots or chunky footwear does.

You could also wear it over hose when it gets cold, and that would make it even more modest.

Ooo Elly, that's a great point, sausage legs will never be a fab look. Thanks for the warning.

You know, I think they can. However, otk socks can also come off as juvenile. They also cut the leg the same way otk boots do.

I like the look, especially sticking out of a pair of tall boots in a similar color, even slouched a bit. However, I personally won't wear the look because I think it is very hard to find a pair of otk socks that will stay up without cutting into your thighs. Even having fairly muscular, young legs in the area above the knee most women have some more fat under the skin. To get them to stay up I always end up with sausage casing effect, and I have tried something like 10 pairs. Not a good look on me!

I'm quite cautious when it comes to the length of my skirts but I will quite happily wear a skirt which sits a couple of inches above the knee. I usually balance the shorter hem with slouch boots, hose or leggings BUT can over the knee socks do the same job? The look is growing on me and it looks toasty but is it appropriate for the supermarket or playgroup? Are there any tips for wearing the look successfully?

Here's a photo for reference but my skirts are LONGER!
