Maybe this is a generation gap thing. I grew up in a time when clothing wasn't so casual. In my family, smart casual was worn, and that's the way I dress to this day. If Comfort Chic isn't the persona I should use, even though comfort is the overriding factor in all of my clothing choices, then I need to come up with something else. I'm after a smart casual look that's both comfortable and chic, and don't think those two things are mutually exclusive. So girls, gimme some help here.

Of course you can - why not? If this makes sense for you it all that matters. Style descriptor is to help YOU, not make sense to somebody else.

BTW I still don't have my own and absolutely clueless about those descriptors. You are miles ahead of me!

I like it. For myself, I try to keep in mind "urban chic" with the modifier "approachable." i.e., I never want to be over styled or so expensive looking that I come off as unfriendly or unavailable. I always add pattern and occasionally RATE or bohemian elements. So I like the "comfort chic" identifier. It's a real thing.

I'm not sure the comfort descriptor goes with your penchant for tailoring and feminine detailing that you've been exploring recently, though, bettycrocker. You're on a journey, and this is a really neat idea to consider!

I like Relaxed Chic...Remember Stacey and Clinton and all of the times they had someone say "its so comfortable"?...I guess those experiences put off any definition of "comfortable"...But hey, BC...it is your party...

Well, I'm gonna use it! I know Comfort Chic means different things to different people, but what matters is what it means to me and how it will be used for shopping and styling outfits.

Staysfit, I'm with you on this. Things have to feel good (i.e. not be scratchy or itchy or pinch) or I won't wear them. They can't be tight, either. But it doesn't stop there. The pieces have to look smart casual chic. Nothing frumpy or touristy or too casual. Not too dressy most of the time, but I do need dressy outfits for special occasions. Shoes have been the most difficult things to shop for.

Thanks, unfrumped. I can see how there'd be perhaps a clearer message with Comfortably Chic. Funny how two extra letters at the end of a word can change one's perception, eh?

Windchime, please educate me on what Sporty Luxe is supposed to mean. I don't think that describes my style, but I've always wanted to know. It's the word sporty that I'm not sure about. I don't wear anything that I'd classify as sporty.

Use same word root but differently.
One blogger uses the style term,
"Comfortably dressy". She is/ was MOTG and focused on washable but polished, well/ fitting items and quit trying to have separate wardrobes -- prolly lots of knitwear but some style choices to not look like lounging sweats. So less distinction between at home vs. errands vs going out ( maybe not formal wear!)
So " comfort ____" has the potential to be a bit tainted by the prior associations-- comfort food, comfort
shoe, whereas maybe
Comfortably chic give a more active sense of HOW you are achieving your look.

Of course you can! Actually, that term could be useful for a lot of us, I think. I know that I am not willing to sacrifice comfort for style.

Have you tried any sporty luxe? That seems the epitome of comfort chic, in a way.

I knew it was an excellent term as soon as I saw Firecracker use it the other day! I love it! Go for it! It resonates with me as well because I never purchase anything unless it's absolutely comfortable. Nothing itchy, tight, that pinches or that I can't move well in. Plus, I feel everything before I try it on. If I don't like it, I don't bother.

I also like Comfort Chic. It's easier for me to see the winter version of Comfort,Chic (because I see cozy). I'm not sure how I see the summer version but perhaps that is because I am struggling with summer myself (and it's too freakin' cold to get my head around warmth). How do you see the summer version?

Lol, UmmLila. You've put an image in my head that I can't shake, and now I've connected the word "comfort" with comforters. :)

"Relaxed elegance" has a nice ring to it, but I think I feel more chic than elegant. Elegant conjures up a very polished look that I neither have nor feel. Chic is, by my definition at least, stylish but not elegant. It's like there are levels of refinement, and mine is not the top level where an elegantly dressed person would be.

Maybe "Relaxed Chic?"
