They are quite common in Australia. They don't usually have dress up themes though.</p> <p>I liked the flower in the hair suggestion, but ran out of time in the end to do it, and none of my scarves worked so I just went with dress and a pleather jacket. A group of us had our photo taken for the local paper so I wonder if it will be published (it is pretty easy to get into the local paper!) I don't think you need bold jewelry. Compared to the '60s when my older sisters were in high school, clothing colors were generally subdued and makeup back then was natural looking; didn't get into bold primary colors, etc. until the '80s. The switch to bold colors is what sparked the Color Me Beautiful thing in the '80s. I don't remember anybody ever wearing turbans in the '70s. I graduated from high school in 1979.
