I have screwed schedules, a modest budget and impossible measurements, which means I have to buy whatever I hate less instead of what I like most very often - and I never, absolutely never, find clothes on short notice. When it comes to normal clothes, I buy cheaper options for what I hate less and invest a little more money on things I actually like (cheap-just-ok-clothes won't last enough to be donated and there is no reason I would donate good-quality-liked-clothes). I might purchase a similar thing in the store, but that's because the new item has an edge over my older one, like better &nbsp;fit, better color, more contemporary design, etc.&nbsp;<br />The only thing i ever regretted getting rid of was my faux fur vest. But that was at the beginning of the season. The only caveat I would apply is: is it a newer style or a new to you style (say crop flares)? Have you given it a fair go before deciding that it doesn't suit you? If you can see you have " enough" of those to get by, you know you can let go.<br /> Of course some people swear by culling to an almost empty closet and allowing a new style direction or breakthrough to occur. But for me I'm okay with keeping some placeholders since if I let all my " fat pants" or camouflaging tops go, I am more likely to rush out and grab things in desperation if clothes feel too tight.
