This year I bought myself a cot-and-tent-in-one, to get myself off the ground, and a bunch of cast iron fire equipment. I’ve come to realise I’ll never backpack again, since dogs are almost illegal. My time camping is all spent on working on my Thomas Jefferson era cooking techniques and I’ve decided why bother crawling over rocks on my knees? Plus, I’ll never have to worry about rain water soaking the floor of my tent either, the real problem when it rains... flooding. It is the best way to get a spot. Now I feel we are too old to sleep on tree roots and rocks and worry about bears and other critters like sleeping bison if getting up in the middle of the night. This time of year -- when the mornings get cooler -- always makes me think of camping. I haven't made it to Kings Canyon or Yosemite yet, but those are on my list! Making my way through all the national parks is a life goal. </p> <p>Nine years ago right now, I was out exploring the country in this little rig (that camper is basically a tent on wheels!) by myself for 10 weeks -- it was glorious! (The photo is from Rocky Mountain NP.) I want to do it again, but Jamie has made me promise that I won't do any trips that long without him again. LOL So next time will be an Airstream with him and the dogs. This is a brief interlude for us in camping adventures and gosh darn it, Angie posted all the fall fashion overviews! Lol. Murphy’s Law! Last week was Kings Canyon and next up is Grinding Rock. Brief stop in LA for car museum (carriage is one of the first electric cars from the early 20th century; it’s officially *my car* now ) and pilgrimage to IKEA Burbank (so big, we didn’t make it all the way thru!).
