Thanks again.

I actually often have the problem of tops getting loose around the waist - it isn't restricted to camis.
Angie - any thoughts?

I'm another fan of Target Mossimo tanks to wear as camis and buy they XS to be fitted under other layers. This week they are on sale for $5 in several colors. Small sizes in discontinued colors are often on the sale rack. They are a nice long length.

anne, I think we are talking about the same thing. It's as if that thin added layer morphs us into sausages. I've tried "shapewear" camis, but found them uncomfortable.

Lynne - I think that it perhaps what I am referring to as well.

And I don't understand why when I have a small bust and large waist they are tight around the bust and loose around the waist!

Here is a comparison shot

1 top with nothing underneath
2 top with my most fitted cami underneath (admittedly I have put on a bit of weight since first shot) http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_8811.jpg http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_8630.jpg

Tara, I know exactly what you mean. I've learned that I have to be pickier about what I wear underneath or else I feel I look almost stocky, and I'm not. That's probably just my perception though.

One other disadvantage I've found is that they tend to "flatten out" my bust when worn under slim fitting tops - that is, they don't make my boobs flat but they do sometimes make it all appear as one big "boob" if you know what I mean...no separation in between the boobs!

Thanks everyone.
Karen - mine are target ones too.
They seem to be bought in bigger sizes too - I think I bought them just post-partum. I do have one tighter one - I'll have to check what happens with that one.

Most of my camis sit right on my skin. They all have some stretch component. I actually think buying camis in a nice material that feels good is worth the expense because the good ones last years, and it's not like it's such a fun thing to purchase anyway. Actually this type of shirt is one thing European brands do very well--all those companies specializing in underwear. However unless you are actually in Europe the prices are prohibitive. They take their undershirts very seriously. If Nordstrom were an option for me I would try the ones Angie recommends because I believe she said they were well-priced.

Anne I usually just buy cheap cami's at Target or something similar and they only last a season. Make sure you get anything with lycra in it too.

Anne, I would be inclied to say your camis have stretched out and need to be replaced. My new ones have lots of stretch to them and fit close to my body, like a silky second skin. They're supposed to just be there and not interfere with the fit and drape of the tops that go over them.

Hmm, Anne are you saying that your camis are loose around your waist? In that case they are probably too big.

The advantages of camis are so well rehearsed on YLF I won't go into them - but I have a downside.

When I am wearing very fitted tops I prefer them to be tight around the waist (since I don't have much of a waist/bust difference I want to make the most of what is there)) but if I wear a cami underneath that doesn't seem to be happen.

Could this be because my camis are too old or too big?
