Mochi - amazing. All the reading I've done certainly suggests that it is a rich network of information. I am hoping we are not ostracized as cyclists on the route, but we are confident in doing our "camino" as best fits for us. I'm not going to over-research the trip, but make sure I have the right clothes and gear. Other than that, the bike leader will lead us in the right direction ;).

I'm guessing she has a scallop shell shaped tatoo...?

She is a teacher, jackiec. That is when she has off.

I think she got a lot of her initial info from online forums like this one. Then once she actually started the Camino, there was a rich human info network with all the other pilgrims walking around her.

It was a life-changing experience for her. She even got a Camino-inspired tattoo : )

Thanks for the replies. Although I'd love to walk the route, I really don't have the time to do the full route at this point with family commitments at home. As well, my mom has a bit of a bum foot but is amazing on her bike, so this is the best option for us, activity-wise, and time-wise. I know it gets smoking hot in the summer. Just thought I'd see if anyone has any personal weather advice for Sept.

Laura, I'll PM you.

Mochi - wow - the entire route in August! Hot hot hot. What an experience. I've been reading lots of books on the route, and watched some movies. Sounds like a transformative trip.

kerry- i hear you on the contemplation. This time it was my mom's idea. She says that once she gets an idea, she's going to do it NOW. She's 71 and very inspirational to me.

Wow, how exciting! I've spent many an hour with a good friend contemplating this but have not really figured out how to do it (young kids, work, out of shape - me not her!) Congratulations! I have no advice but I'm sure it will be a fantastic experience.

I have a friend who did it, and part of it with her mom. They walked it, though. I could pass your email onto her if you wanted; I'm sure she'd be happy to answer questions.

Has anyone here done the Camino de Santiago in Spain? My mom and I are scheduled to do part of it (the last 200 or so km) with a bike tour in mid-September. My mom is an avid cyclist and lives in the mountains. I'm active and fit, but not a daily cyclist. Not too worried about that part, I think I'll be ok if I do some more cycling with my mom in the summer. We'll be on mountain bikes, not road bikes, thank goodness. I haven't gotten into road biking yet despite the constant jetstream of road bikes in my neighbourhood. Just wondering if anyone has done it mid September and can comment on weather or comment on anything else. We fly into Madrid but then start the touring in Burgos through to Santiago. I'm super excited! Any and all advice would be appreciated.
