Most places I can do that are around the patio door. The problem is that sometimes, even in the same position, there is just too much light and the picture comes out terribly hazy, washed out.</p> <p>I've tried against the light, towards the light, quite a bit away from the screen door, all over the place, but can't seem to judge the height or distance well. I'll give it a few more tries today. If not, I'll just break down and order one of the two mini tripods you posted links to.</p> <p>shell, geocaching is so much fun! Most of the time I use <a href="http://www.rei.com/product/777249">this mini tripod</a>, which is very small and has a strap to fasten to posts/branches if you're taking photos on the go. </p> <p>But for daily photos where I'm just trying to get a clear-ish shot of what I put on my body, I am usually in a hurry and don't mess with the light, and the room I photograph in is small enough that I cut off either my head or feet if I position the camera horizontally on a tripod.
