Canon is a great brand! We have a Canon SD850 and SD870 and my sister-in-law got a Canon SD890. They all take amazing pictures. We printed picture of our vacation from Hawaii and they look like post cards. I would definitely recommend Canon for an easy to use point and shoot.

Your hubby did good: Elph is an *excellent* brand. I had an Elph in pre-digital days and loved it. Will be interested to hear how you get on with it. Is the photo quality good?

I am currently using the Canon powershot, but I'm not as happy with it. For one, I'm like you, I want something small and simple. But I'm finally getting the hang of all the features and functions. However, the quality of the photos isn't as good as my DD14's camera.

Sorry, don't know the brand of hers off the top of my head, but we bought her a waterproof one because she's a swimmer and wanted to take underwater pics. Even out of the water, hers takes amazing quality photos. Then again.... it could be that she's simply far more skilled with a camera than I am.

I wish I could figure out my self-timer.

That's great that you found a camera that you love. We had a Canon Power Shot S30 for years that we loved. I felt so bad when I dropped it and then the lens wouldn't move out. I haven't yet seen the Canon Elph Power Shot.
We had to get a new camera too and got a Kodak Z1012. We wanted lot's of zoom and also a view finder which we had a heck of a time finding together in the same camera.
Thanks for posting how much you like your new camera. I know how helpful that is for camera shoppers. There are so many out there to sort through.

My husband got me a new camera for Christmas and thought I'd share the brand and model because I really like it. It's a Canon Elph Power Shot. It has 8.0 mega pixels and it's very small and easy to use. It is this really pretty brownish maroon color too. He knows I like my gadgets to be extremely simple and small otherwise I never use them.

Just thought I'd mention it for those of you camera shopping.
