Thanks, Rosee! I feel very stupid when it comes to metric/imperial conversions.

There are boots to fit -- follow the advice by Modgirl, Suz and others. Don't worry so much about "medium" or "large" calves, as long as they are proportional to your overall shape (what others above had said). The question is buying the appropriate fitting items -- some are cut too narrow, and most people could not wear them.

I know the boot buying frustration. I am very picky about the styles of the knee boots I like so I didn't try 40, but I tried several that didn't fit and finally found 2 over the last 5 years that did fit and that I really liked. My problem now is that since I have gained a lot of weight, I also gained about 2 to 3 inches on my calves and my boots didn't fit this past winter (couldn't zip them up past the calf area). Boy was I bummed, but I didn't want to shop for new knee boots (cost prohibitive too). Of all the things I missed wearing, this was my most missed.

@Suzanne: 4'11" = 147.5cm; 14" = 35cm; 15 = 37.5cm.

I had to convert the inches back to cm's, but phew - I made it! I don't think that they're big, but as the other ladies have rightly said, it all boils down to proportion. (I'm such a Paul Pry, but what is 4;11" in metres? 1,5m?)

Not on here (though so far, I've found there are quite a number of very helpful petite forum members, plus Angie is very knowledgable even though she isn't petite). But the blogger I was thinking about is here: http://www.alterationsneeded.c.....urces.html

There's actually a huge community of petite bloggers, all a bit different - you can find some at this link: http://www.petitefashionblogs.com/

Enjoy! Hopefully you will find someone with a body type similar to yours who makes recommendations that make sense to you. But ask here, too! Everyone is so friendly and helpful.

Ok I just remeasured my calves, its between 14.5- 15 inches! They look like the grew a centimeter or two! But I do walk on my tippy toes around my house tho! My thighs are 26 1/2 inches pretty close to 27 inches and my calves are 14.5 or just a lil abouve that! So I don't know if that is proportioned or what! But the boots that I tried they fit 14 inch calves and my mom she saw me wear them and said they fit tight around my calves! I mean they feel comfortable but at the same time I don't have to wear jeans to make my boots fit me! They just fit my leg perfect! These boots I have I got them from payless! I don't know about the boots online tho!

Khris, you are so right about the labels. I had the hardest time finding tall boots; I thought my calves must be monstrous sized if everyone else is able to wear tall boots and I can't even get the zipper up. Turns out my calves are totally normal for someone who is 5' tall. The boots - like most clothes - don't fit me because the fit models are 5'11".

Suz, Don't get discouraged with the boots, they are out there! It took like a million tries for me to find the right boots. I realized that they have to be 14" high and 15" circumference to fit me perfectly. I scour the sizes and reviews on Zappos before committing to anything. Sorry about your shopping experience, I would not give that store my business, their sales people should know better.

How do your calves look in proportion to the rest of your body? Do you have a hard time finding boots to fit, or do tapered pants or skinny jeans get stuck on your calves?
My calves are larger, but if I look at my whole leg they look in proportion. If my calves were smaller, they would look kind of weird since I have heavy thighs and larger feet. Don't get caught up on a label for your calves- medium or large are only words.

You said it, Modgrl. I must have tried on 40 pairs last year...under the snooty saleswomen's noses...finally found some with some elastic in the back that help the situation but they are on the verge of being too tall for me...and I'm not even SUPER short, at 5"4". It must be hellish for someone 4'11".

By the way, Sweety08, if you are petite, you might be interested in some of the petite bloggers' sites, because they often review items that work for them and several are exactly your height—I'm thinking of the Alterations Needed girl, especially. They also have great tips on altering clothes to fit your body.

I am also very petite and have somewhat wide calves. I think the problem comes in when we try to look for tall boots. The widest point of your calves is lower than the average person's, so it is difficult to find tall boots that are cut correctly to fit your particular shape calf.

For me, it's helpful to think in terms of overall proportions. How do they look in relation to the rest of your body?

But is your concern with the way that clothes, or especially boots, fit? I can empathize. I have muscular legs, not huge by any means (or so the ladies here tell me, LOL), but I still have trouble fitting into some jeans and many boots. It can be frustrating, but I'm finding that the women here are GREAT at helping direct to the kinds of clothes that might fit better.

I am 4'11 and I was wondering is my calves big or medium for my height! They are size 14.3-14.5 inch calves! I don't know they seem pretty big to me! So is that big for my height?
