Rachylou, almost! I just want to get the tedious moving part over with...

Cocolion, this is the first apartment I've lived in that allows residents to paint. Same thing with my sister's new place. I think we'll have fun with bold colors this year - her apartment is even brighter and "spicier-colored" than mine is!

Pretty dresses on pretty you! Your move sounds difficult as all moves are. Best of luck! I'm all for painted walls. I have yellow walls although a very pale yellow in my darkest room -- I'm never going back to white.

Thanks, Scarlet. It really came in handy a few times. So easy to get overheated while reading emails/texts, even if the sender doesn't intend a message to come off in a harsh/mean way! (Of course, sometimes the opposite is true...)

Oh my, you are all making me think that turquoise walls might not only be feasible, but a GREAT idea!

Okay. I'll see what B thinks. My guess is he'll either be a little skeptical or (like other decor-related matters say "Um, it really doesn't matter to me!")

But I'm excited about the possibility. I love painting!

Kari, turquoise can actually be quite a room brightening color! If you pick a nicely saturated shade in a room that gets cool light (morning?), and accent with a healthy dose of white it's really great. My powder room is ALL walls a somewhat muted but very saturated turquoise with white trim, floor, sink, etc. Really a bright and cheerful room! I think it's totally doable if that's a dream of yours

You look gorgeous and vibrant, and your camping trip sounds wonderful! I grew up in a family that packed a guitar, a ukelele, and a trumpet on our camping trips. We sang in parts. We were hardcore camp-singers and I LOVED it!

Sounds like you have some great plans for your new pace.

Kari, you should check Maria's blog http://www.mariakillam.com/blog
She is an amazing color expert and this blog has tons of decorating advice. The reason I mention is that she has one post there on why light colored walls are not good for a dark place: http://www.mariakillam.com/200.....-room.html
Check it out!

Ingunn - if this exact bag really floats your boat, keep an eye out on Ebay. After I saw this bag at a KS outlet store in person, I Ebay-stalked it and found the bag for cheaper than it would have cost in the outlet store. It's available in a myriad of beautiful colors, and every once in a while mustard turns up too.
I rather like the "vine green" shade.

Sveta, you're right on. But (hopefully) it won't be too negatively stressful. At least we aren't moving too far, and the only space we're losing is a bathroom which means we don't have to fret about having to downsize quickly.

I am going to wait until B. and I see how the light in our apartment looks, but I've always dreamed about having a turquoise accent wall, provided that the room wouldn't be too dark as a result. Our living room couches and leather ottoman are chocolate brown, and we have soft pillows in green, turquoise, scarlet, and mustard hues. I'd certainly need to bring in some color and white to temper a dark accent wall, though.
You can see some of the furnishings here:
http://inkariswardrobe.blogspo.....-tour.html
(These images were from my first solo apartment; the apartment that B. and I share together doesn't have that salmon fireplace or blue carpet, thank goodness!)

If that doesn't work out, though, I have a large poster art print in turquoise that I'd love to mod-podge onto a canvas that could bring in some vibrant color.

Both lovely outfits as usual, Kari! Isn't all this warm weather glorious? I love all the colors you pair with aqua, you have a very keen eye for what works well with it. What city are you moving to, if you don't mind me asking publicly? Any closer to me by chance?

We officially are reserved for our "new" apartment, and the move is on!

The current plan is for B. and I to get our keys to our new apartment this coming weekend (eek!) and gradually move (we need to be out of our current place by the end of the month.) I thought it would be a good idea to start packing now, so today I'm working on books, DVDs, and fragile items. I'm in a wedding on the 18th, but on the 19th we'll probably start moving small things over - a few loads of boxes in our cars, things like my books and out-of-season shoes, that I won't need for the next couple weeks.

Later in August, we'll be doing our BIG move with help from our pals. Fortunately we have a few friends who are thrilled that we're finally moving to our neck of the woods, and have offered to help in getting us there. And then, there's the immense amount of cleaning to do...

*sigh* The packing and moving out process is my LEAST favorite part of moving. It always makes me want to be ruthlessly minimalist and get rid of everything = which I don't, though I do try to weed out what I'm no longer using. I'm sure there's a lesson in this somewhere - I do save a lot of things that I don't need, though I'm far less of a packrat than previous generations in my family.

I love moving IN, though. Furniture arrangements, getting art hung on the walls, setting up books and teacups and candles on shelves... that part is fun. I'm really looking forward to setting up our new place - we'll have a decent amount of living space, and less awkward/wasted angles in our living room and second bedroom than what we have now. B. is excited to get a TV and cable (we've lived without both for a couple years.) For the first time in my apartment-living life, we have the option to paint walls if we choose to, which is VERY appealing.

To celebrate and unwind a little, B. and I met up with some of our friends this weekend to camp nearby. We were camping off what is more a forest service road than a proper campground, but were allowed to have a fire. Best of all, we were very far away from other campers, so didn't have to worry about keeping others awake (which was especially handy when someone set up a karaoke machine on a laptop, complete with speakers and sound system!) I sang a little (rocking out to Fiona Apple), but mostly just enjoyed looking up at the meteor shower in the clear sky, playing with our friends' dogs, and having a chance to laugh and relax.

A couple outfits that I missed earlier:
#1-2: Blue/green patterned fit and flare poly/spandex dress that I got from a YLF clothing swap; teal earring used as a pendant necklace on a silver chain; bone patent low wedge sandals; mustard handbag.
I wore this last weekend; some of my cousins were visiting from all of town, so all of us local 20-something cousins decided to beat the (90+ degree) heat by meeting at a local air-conditioned brewery. It was the PERFECT way to cool down!

#3-4: A work day when it wasn't quite so hot. BR blue patterned knit wrap dress; hummingbird brooch from Toronto; blue Second Base demi-camisole; low leopard print pumps.
