I'm actually an hourglass with inverted triangle tendencies, but I think I can only pull off this dress because of my shoulders, so I'm posting it!

http://i299.photobucket.com/al.....1-10-3.jpg

This dress shows off my shoulders in a big way, but because it flares out SO much at the bottom it manages to keep me looking kinda balanced. If it weren't for my shoulders, this dress would leave me looking more like a pretty pear.

I'll try to see if I can dig up any other clothes that take advantage of my shoulders...

I don't have a lot of photo's to work with because I have just recently started to figure out what works for an Inverted Triangle, but I will do my best:

This cowl neck halter style works for me I think because with no fabric on the shoulders it draws the attention elsewhere. Also, the pattern and light background in this skirt draws the attention there:

http://i561.photobucket.com/al.....C03599.jpg

Here is another cowl neck, this time a long sleeve sweater dress. The belt here I think helps draw the eye down to the waist:

http://i561.photobucket.com/al.....C03415.jpg

Raglan sleeves flatter as the seaming goes in toward the neckline. I like the flare towards the wrist ion the sleeve which draws attention away from the shoulder area as well:

http://i561.photobucket.com/al.....C03605.jpg

This dress with the halter neckline and pattern at the hem also works because it draws attention to the hem, legs:

http://i561.photobucket.com/al.....C03683.jpg

I'm loving the length of this jacket, not only does it work for my height, and short waist, but the detail on the front placket and narrow collar helps to minimize the shoulders:

http://i561.photobucket.com/al.....C03433.jpg

I like the collared button down blouse here with the longer vest, belt. And the colorful shoes draw the eye down:

http://i561.photobucket.com/al.....C03427.jpg

V-neck wrap dresses work well, this red dress also has the detail at the hem that helps draw the eye down:

http://i561.photobucket.com/al.....C03201.jpg

and this V-neck wrap style with the detail at the waist:

http://i561.photobucket.com/al.....C03251.jpg

I think that is about all I can come up with for now that fit the recommended styles for us broad shouldered gals!

OK, I'll have a go at this! I think the most important thing for dressing my body, is to take focus away from my shoulders by calling attention to the centerr of my body with scarves, necklaces or a neckline detail. Also by adding some attention to my curveless hips by wearing skirts or pants with lighter colors or interesting print/details.

Here are a few of my favorite outfits:
Dark top with bold print dress or skirt
http://www.flickr.com/photos/w.....168731522/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/w.....168731522/
Sequins and lace keep focus centered while draped cardi adds volume to my hips
http://www.flickr.com/photos/w.....168731522/
Even though I have bright colors on top, the a-line skirt helps balance my shoulders.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/w.....168731522/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/w.....168731522/
The ends of the faux-cape puts volume near my hips and the white button down keeps the focus centered.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/w.....168731522/
I luv this sheath dress. It layers well, barely wrinkles and the bold print at the bottom portion is perfect for my shape.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/w.....168731522/
Lastly, stripes or a bright color on my hips is one of my go-to looks.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/w.....168731522/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/w.....168731522/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/w.....168731522/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/w.....168731522/

I hope that helps! I look forward to seeing other Inverted Triangles post their pics here!

I am fairly new to YLF and I think the first thing I looked for inspiration on was trying to sort out my body type (hourglass) and then how to dress for it.
I started with Angie's terrific posts on how to identify your body type
http://youlookfab.com/2009/03/.....body-type/
http://youlookfab.com/2006/04/.....ng-act”/

I worked out I was an hourglass so went on to read Angie's post on this but here is the post you all you Inverted Triangles
http://youlookfab.com/2006/05/.....-triangle/

After some discussion from some other YLF members I thought it would be nice to take it a step further and have forum members post their outfits for their bodytypes. It can be an easy way to provide some ideas for any new members, or help to inspire those that may be stuck about what other options they can have.

So all you Inverted Triangles out there, come along and post your pictures that best highlight your frame. Cant wait to see you all
