La Ped, interesting that one portion wore out so much faster. I didn't account for climate change, so I didn't bring them, but in Tampa I had a bunch of tank tops with shelf bras and very thin straps. I can't say any one part wore out faster. But with these, I want to get something that has a more supportive bra part than that.

Gigi, yes! Even if no one sees it but me, I want to get some that I like the looks of.

Interesting! I grew up and still live in the Midwest, and I've never seen anything like that. I hope you find what you're looking for. It sounds like a practical purchase that could also be very pretty if you find the right one.

I used to wear a lot of shelf bra style camis when I was in college. They were often cheaper than buying plain bralettes, and more likely to be found in thrift stores (which sometimes don't accept "underwear" but some staff apparently file camisoles under "tank top"). Then I stopped once I found a couple bralette styles I really loved. I always found the elastic on the shelf bra camis wore out faster than the rest of the cami, and then the conundrum was whether to ditch it, or try to wear it over a regular bralette, cut out the elastic, etc. I've found I replace my bras about twice as often as I replace my camis (and I probably wear both for much longer than Angie would advise, hehe), but YMMV.

Nemosmom, That is exactly why I'm excited about them. Mom is sending $$ for Christmas. Bet she'll be thrilled I'm spending it on underwear, ha!

Before I head to Uniqlo though, I want to check Berlin lingerie brands that I'm just learning about. https://www.globalblue.com/des.....surprises/ This doesn't seem very in tune with Berlin--how could you ever be surprised about lingerie in Marlene Dietrich's town? And it is old; one of the labels has shut down in the meantime. But some of the others are in exactly the part of the city I've been telling myself I need to go check out local designers in. Makes more sense to go now that I have two specific needs (bra tops and something like a bullet bra). If at least one is still there, if they don't have what I need, I hope they'll be able to suggest others.

Yes, after I discovered I can't stand wearing a bra under all my layers Underwire + heattech + cotton tee + sweater = tooooo much.

Toronto, the phrase "BH Hemdchen" (bra shirt) seems to cover a pretty wide range of garments, from camis with stitching over the bust, to full-on bras with the shirt part attached, if you will, to shaper pieces.

Sterling, do you have a find for yours?

I hope more people who are familiar with these will post.

ETA, thanks Nemo! Was that a discovery when you moved to Chicago? The German site doesn't seem to have long-sleeved versions. https://www.uniqlo.com/de/de/d.....en/bh-tops

https://www.google.com/search?.....jbtICd9nkC
It’s a combination bra & undershirt/cami. Such a good idea for those of us who are not terribly well endowed! Starting to shop them, I see that some have underwires, so maybe they would also work for women with more. Not sure about that, and there seem to be a wide range of levels of support, but reducing the number of undergarments/amount of hassle sounds like a great idea to me.

Do they sell them in cold parts of N America? I don’t recall seeing them growing up in the Midwest, but I wasn’t in the coldest part.

Those of you in Europe, can you suggest brands to try (or avoid)? Warmth is key, but so is comfort--no itchy stitching--and I'd like to find some that are pretty too.
