Well Preppypear - i have to admit I've already exchanged it once. So I think I will keep the needle and thread handy. I agree with Anna and Suz - it's primarily the nature of the knit. I sure would hate to spend a lot of money and have it happen - it would be returned for sure. Good suggestion JR - I'll look for a slightly tighter weave. If anyone sees something similar please let me know!

I think it's the nature of the knit. I have some expensive open/fragile weave sweaters that I have to be very careful with, one I already snagged.
My H&M t-shirts have held up better than my James Perse ones that cost 5X the price.

Such a lovely sweater - love its relaxed look. Too bad. I find H&M generally ok for quality, though I had one cotton peasant top shrink like the dickens after one wash.

So sorry to hear it. I am a klutz, so the reminder to me is a good one.

I hope you can find a similar top in a tighter weave or knit, so you can recreate the look.

Such a cute top on you! Do you think they'd give you an exchange if it happens again? I can definitely see why you'd want to keep repairing it, despite the poor quality.

Oh, no! So frustrating.

I think it is probably a combo of fabrication and poor manufacturing (or the choice to manufacture this style in that fabric in the first place.)

The fast fashion fix is great for help ing us identify new shapes and colours we'd like to try at a higher price point, though. No denying it.

I had a similar experience yesterday with a new sweater from Winners. Also very inexpensive and I had no expectations really, but I didn't think it would stretch and bag out from a day of lounging on the couch!!

I agree Shevia and Deb - H&M is very hit or miss in terms of quality - I've bought a few pairs of skinnies that have been washed umpteen times and still are great. I think it is the fabrication of this sweater that is the issue - all those pesky little holes - so many opportunities for snagging. High five to my "clumsy" twin Kari! Rae and Carole - yes CPW gets outrageous! I'll take Deborah's advice and try to be really careful

Hmmm.. I wore an H&M sweater today that I purchased three years ago. It has been sashed and dried so many times I cannot count and it still has not pilled. You just never know with them.

Ugh how annoying. Even for $29 it should last more than 1 or 2 wears.

I have found that H&M quality is completely unreliable. T-shirts develop holes after one wash, yet my son can wear their shorts constantly and even after multiple wash and dries they look fine. Sorry about your shirt, because the outfit looks great.

Seriously? That's annoying! Good thing that you have the skill (and thread) to repair it.

I've caught knits on the sharp corners of filing cabinets at work a few times. Unfortunately I'm really clumsy and bang into things a lot.

Such a cute top...but so poorly made.

During it's second wearing, I dropped my hair brush - it fell on my shoulder, snagged a stitch creating a visible hole. Arrgggh! I repaired the hole and soldiered on. Later, while sorting out Christmas lights, (yes that time already) I snagged my sweater again! Fortunately I still had the needle threaded from the last repair.
Perhaps this is a lounging sweater - meant for curling up on the couch, and a safe distance away from all sharp objects!
So here's the skinny - it's from H&M - 29.00. I didn't expect a lot at that price - but it definitely has fallen short of the mark. The good thing is at least I know this is a style I enjoy - and I'll be on the look out for something similar albeit higher quality.
