I'm always grabbing my parka,&nbsp;even when a coat or peacoat would be far better (i.e. with skirts and dresses). I was thinking that a proper wool coat would be dressier, more appropriate and cohesive. LOVE "the Winter of the Beautiful Yellow Coat"!!</p> <p><b>K.M</b>. - yay for bright coats! Winter coats always look too big on me (or, if they fit, the sleeves are too short). But I agree with Staysfit: the extra room adds warmth and insulation, and allows you to wear chunky sweaters and even jackets underneath.<br />On the color: my winter coat is a bright, orange-y red puffer. When I bought it a few years ago, I was tired of the sea of greys, blacks, and browns of most coats. I must say that sometimes it is a bit challenging to match--tho I have no choice; it's my warmest coat and I wear it with everything. I figure, I'll take it off as soon as I arrive places anyway, so the mismatching doesn't bother me too much and it's mostly about bottoms. While sometimes I wish I had a more sober option, I must tell you that I get compliments all the time on the vibrant color. As in, strangers stop me on the street (not to mention colleagues and friends). For myself, even though I love the coat, I probably wouldn't purchase it as my primary winter coat. I'd be concerned that I'd get tired of the color if I wore it all the time. I think the final decision really depends on your personal style. This coat has a very graphic feel to me. A very defined shape, with clear and bold lines, and the pockets are noticeable, and so are the buttons. The fit is large IMO, but I like the way it looks. I don't think a smaller size would look as nice. I actually think a slightly larger coat is warmer because there is a layer of air between you and the coat for insulation. The other day I stumbled over this yellow coat at Unikko. </p> <p>Reasons I like it:<br /> - I adore the colour! The yellow has a slight green or lime undertone and is actually not washing me out. (I think I've entered a yellow phase. I'm drawn to the colour in lots of stuff and it makes me really happy)<br /> - I like the a-line shape and the length of the coat.<br /> - The collar isn't too large (I think).<br /> - The buttons are fun.<br /> - The detail seams below the shoulders is fun + is giving a slight structure to the coat<br /> - The sleeves are easily shortened</p> <p>Considerations:<br /> - Is the fit good or is it overwhelming me (I'm petite)? Even if sleeves are shortened?<br /> - Are the pockets too attention grabbing, too large or do they have a childish vibe?<br /> - Is a bright yellow colour too much?<br /> - How versatile is it?<br /> - It's quite expensive, so I'd like it to be great (not just good). I think it will be on sale because they SA said it was a bit hard to sell (the colour was tricky or it was too small) </p>
