If it works on you, you could make it part of a low contrast neutrals outfit. I wonder how it would look with silver-grey jeans or trousers and silver or pewter booties and bag, and a pearl colored knit top. Even silver metallic jeans could be interesting. I would play with textures.

I think you could make it work. It looks like it could be worn as a neutral. So, jeans and tee? I like Laura's idea of wear a column of color with it. Personally, I try not to buy something if I can't think of how to make 2-3 outfits. I have a problem with buying something because I think it's cool, but then never wearing it because I can't figure how to wear it.

Hmm. Jeans, definitely, with a knit tee - Cons or colorful sneakers or boots in the winter. Over a button-front shirt and a skirt, to toughen them up a bit? With a column of color in black or charcoal grey (or white, for summer, if a leather jacket for summer works where you are).

I'm struggling a bit because in my climate this would be an outdoor jacket, not something I'd wear all day, so it doesn't really have to work *perfectly* with the rest of the outfit, just reasonably well.

I kind of love it. As long as the fit was good and it works unzipped I can see wearing it with a ton of things.

I'm currently working with urban warrior rocker for style so your mileage will vary but here are some ideas with clothes I have.

*Straight leg/ skinny jeans, white drapey T-shirt, grey cons

*Black ponte skinnies, black top (could do white as well), black combat boots

*Black tube skirt, white or black top, booties.

*Grey skinnies (depends on if the shades work, need to see in person), black top, black shoes

With in each outfit I have a bunch of variation, I have multiple black or white tops that could work, like a black, fluid-fit button-up top in a silky fabric vs a drapey T. Plus that's all before I get into colors. I have a fair amount of purples that could work.

Lyn*, you're right about metallics; I just don't have experience with that yet.

Angie, good eye for the length! I'd only compared the hem to the sleeve length, didn't see that it hits just above the mannequin's crotch. Hmm. I have a very long torso for my height and prefer jackets that end just at the upper hip.

I think of my neck as short, but was told the other day it's long. Average? Is this jacket neck-shortening?

First of all - if it doesn't fit - please return it, since it's a big size.

The length is a little off unless you are very tall. It's a trouser and jeans thing. Do you have a shorter neck?

I don't think I'd even buy an orphan because then it just frustrates me from the get go!

As a metallic, wouldn't this kind of go with ... everything?

Thanks kkards; I almost titled the post "buying an orphan"! Might even go back and change that.

I miss wearing white, and also envision that column of white you describe. I hesitate, because my life now includes a feisty feline.

The jacket is goat leather with a faux-sharkskin finish.

Meta question first, it's one of my goals not to buy things I love but can't envision in an outfit. For me, that usually means I'm buying an orphan.
Now that being said, I can clearly see this with jeans and cons or booties. I can also see it with over a column of white, with this really being a statement piece. Not totally sure what the material is, but it looks like it could dress up or down.

What would you wear with this?

And if I may sneak in a meta question, how do you handle items you find fascinating but can't envision in an outfit or ensemble?

This jacket will be just-flattering-enough. It's a big size, in a brand that consistently fits me. The seller accepts returns (buyer pays shipping) so not too much risk involved.

But I'm not sure what it needs to work. I can see this playing well in high-low (e.g. Converse in similar color, or jeans in similar color with orange t-shirt and cons) but part of me wonders what I might be missing.

What lifestyle image does this piece have on its own?

Brutal, unfiltered feedback, please. :-)

ETA: material is goat leather, with faux-sharkskin finish.
