Yay! I'm honoured aj. The gals have made excellent suggestions. I’m fussy about the fabric of the button down too. It’s got to be soft AND pristine. There are loads of awfully stiff and rigid button downs around. You don’t want those. The ones you got at the Loft look AMAZING.

Button downs are tricky. I say try the EB one and see how it fits. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Thanks for the links, Tanya and Inge. I'll definitely swing by the mall and check them out. I've been inspired by Angie's post today to give button-downs another try and I like the shirts you found.

Inge, I am only 5'8" but I'm usually wearing 1-1/2" heels in the photos since I like to wear my Joe's Jeans to show purchases. I think maybe the angle of the camera makes me more statuesque. Thanks for the compliment! My sister is actually 5'11" so I'm the short one in the family.

I'm one of those who likes the idea of button-down shirts but always feels ambivalent when I wear one. Mostly I feel like they sit uncomfortably on my neck. (Confession -- I have a sensitive neckline. It took years for me to be able to wear turtlenecks!)

One thing I liked about the two button-down sleeveless tops that I got from Ann Taylor Loft last week are that they don't actually button up to the neck.
http://i514.photobucket.com/al.....G_1051.jpg

I've been looking for something similar in long-sleeves to wear in the fall and winter. The only ones I've found are these at Eddie Bauer. The web site is a bit funky so this is the link to the shirts page. The shirt I like is the second one on the third row, in teal, long-sleeve wrinkle resistance stretch tunic.
http://www.eddiebauer.com/EB/W.....?viewAll=y

What do y'all think about this style of button down? Have you seen similar shirts anywhere else?
