I agree with Gaylene and Isis that comfort, ability to dash through a couple of concourses to the gate, and ability to quickly get them on and off to go through security are what I look for in travel shoes (oh, plus warmth on freezing planes, no sandals), so unfortunately that rules out lace up high tops for me. But I LOVE the look of the animal print ones for general wear, and am keeping an eye out at a lower price point.

I feel for business travelers who need to wear their suits at the airport and on the plane vs. being able to travel in more business casual comfort and then change at a hotel before meeting clients -- the later is what my colleagues in tech used to do.

I was going to give these dotty ones a whirl ... I'll see how it goes. I'm not usually fond of sneakers for anything other than exercise.

I'm all for looking stylish, and those fashion sneakers could be fun if your style leans that way, but I'd say the most important thing for travel shoes is walkability. My personal favorite is a pair of low-cut, unembellished, black leather sneakers I bought in Paris. I can walk for hours in them and they fit my style.

One probably shouldn't travel with really dirty shoes of any kind, not just running sneakers. So really dirty heels also would rarely work for travel, LOL!

I travel in my running sneakers because (1) I like to run at my destination and running shoes are bulky and take up too much room in my carryon, and (2), they are comfortable and sometimes I need to run to catch a flight.

As Angie would say, horses for courses! (Did I use that phrase correctly?)

I'm not quite a fan of "you can't do this with that" kind of rules. I try not to judge people because you never know their reasons for what they do. I will do what I can with fashion but only what I can.

Love # 1.

I wear josef siebel sneaks in snakeskin but usually with casual outfits. I don't normally travel in my business attire.

Yesterday I posted a photo and description on my travel outfit. A fellow YLF'er reminded me that sneakers are acceptable for getting around town. I agree but I've seen some women pair their nice business suit with really dirty running sneakers and to me, that is not acceptable.

I was inspired to share with you a few of my favorite embellished sneakers spotted earlier this year during fashion week shows all across the world.

5. Marc Jacobs Friends Of Mine Shorty Sneaker $298.00 Slip-ons featuring a playful dog illustration at the toe and a durable calf fabrication for a long-lasting finish.

I know these are all pretty pricy but you can get similar styles from Anthropology, JCrew, and others for a steal.

I'd love to see how you pair your business attire with embellished sneakers and kick up your style quotient a notch!
