I'm sticking with my Danskos because my fussy feet need the arch support and rigid soles. I just ordered another pair of Dansko Reggie cut-out ankle boots to set aside for when the ones I have need to be replaced. They're extremely comfortable and they go with pants and dresses (all except dressy Level 1 outfits, which I rarely wear).

Try Naturalizer Zakira Booties. I have fussy feet and am able to wear them comfortably. I think they give an edgy look to skirts and pants but also professional.

Shedev, I'm at the aiport so I can't suggest visual styles at this moment, but you need something more dressy without the chunky casual rubber soles. The vibe can stay tomboy and hard edged though. Look for something more refined. Brooklyn has got you started on the right track.

I have both pairs of flys you have shown! And I wear them to work in my job as a counselor in a school.

Sterling, These are great options, but for someone else. My fussy feet need more support than flats can give me. My heel is really narrow and I use a short orthotic to make shoes fit. I'd slip out of most of these.
Brooklyn, I think the lug sole is a lot of my attraction to flys. I'm really smitten with the pair below. I really like the first pair of boots. The second pair is cute, but I'd likely need a little lower heel.

I think it's the LUG sole of the Fly pair that makes it more casual. The naughty monkey pair would pass in my office, depending on what you teamed with it of course. Dress standards are so variable and I agree with sterling about observing the landscape first.
I have this pair of booties that I wore to death last winter. I think that they are not preppy or tomboy but I still think that they are dressy enough for work. And for warmer weather I have the suede sandals in the second find, which I think are dressy but not too refined. Just my thoughts of course, others may disagree!

I'm going to take a shot at foot wear. My feelings will not be hurt if these examples are not what you have in mind. They work in my office setting.

I think getting a feel for the office is the first step. I wouldn't buy too much until you get a sense of the unspoken dress code.

Angie, can you give me an example or two of dressy foot wear that are not preppy, tomboy, or too refined.
Suz, i think i need something not patterned too.
Joy, oxfords tend to not fit well, but booties will definately be in rotation.

From what I've noticed when taking my work children to their psych providers is that they are not super dressy. The men mostly wear jeans and buttondowns. The woman i went to see last week wore a crewneck top under a cardigan. Since they were mainly sitting behind a desk, i didn't get to see their shoes. My location may be different. This is just my starting point. I'm going to keep ubserving what they wear.

Shedev, neither pair of shoes here is biz casual. The rest can work in a relaxed biz casual setting.
