The misses size doesn't flare out at the bottom -- or at least I don't think it does. It tapers in towards the ankle. I think their Hampton fit pants do flare out a bit.  But your comments about the fabric also interest me. I tried some Sloans about a year ago (I think they were a tan colour) and sent them back because I didn't like the fabric. So I had pretty much sworn off of them. I only tried them again because I wanted to experiment with the colour.  Strangely, I quite liked the fabric this time around. I don't know if the fit on this particular pair of pants was a bit better for me, or what, but it felt okay.  You showed better sense than I did, anyway! They had them on deep discount, just like you said--I think they were only $18, and I might even have been able to get another 50% off, depending on whether the in-store promo that day applied to the pants. But I tried them on, and I just didn't like them, especially the fabric and the way they almost flared out at the ankle (I couldn't get the misses' length, because the smallest size in misses' is a size too big for me). I said to myself, "Well, I guess Suz enjoys them, and they look great on her, but these just aren't for me." And I was proud of myself that I didn't cave simply because they were cheap (they fit OK; it was the style and fabric that I didn't like). So it is too funny to find out that you are not continuing on with them!
