Love it, Adelfa! I remember that in LA, colors just worked differently. It's not just the temperature, it's also the quality of the light. Sometimes I felt like more depth of color, or softness, almost as a counter to the bright yellow of SoCal sun.

Beautiful! I love the cream against the burgundy.

Honestly, I don't wear burgundy in the summer only because it is hard to find in a summer fabrication. Otherwise, I would totally wear it. It is one of my best colors, and I love it to boot!

I can't think of much I won't wear in the summer. But then, summer here is awfully short. Like Suz, there are a lot more colors I tend to shy away from in winter.

I think that there's a way to wear most any color at any time of the year . I think the real issue is textures and prints. Some textures just are too much of one specific season to be easily worn all year and all temps. And some prints are rather strongly specific to climate /season.
Sheer georgette and linen for summertime / heat . Cozy thick wool for the cold winter.

This looks wonderful on you, and very summery! I have a summer shirt in similar shades of burgundy and cream which gets quite a few compliments.
Since finding YLF, I rethought my ideas about which colors to wear in which seasons. For example, I wouldn't have worn blush pink in winter until seeing many beautiful examples of it here.

Like Janet, I do enjoy choosing one or two fresh colors for each of the four seasons where I live. I'm looking forward to trying cognac this fall but don't think I'll wear it until then.

Awesome outfit! I think burgundy can look great in the summer when combined with lighter colors. I have actually seen quite a few outfits on various websites combining burgundy with pale blue, with or without a touch of cream. It looked gorgeous!

I think it looks great!

Burgundy pretty much disappears from my wardrobe in the summer. Most of my burgundy items are in heavier fabrications or have long sleeves. In fact, I have a James Perse button-front shirt that is a suitable weight for summer, but the deep red color always seems at odds with the season to me, so it goes unworn a lot.

I actually kind of like shifting palettes with seasons a bit. Come September and October, I enjoy the kick of a new color coming back into my wardrobe that evokes the feeling of fall. Burgundy and deep berry and plum tones especially. I even start craving some rust and brown, which are not my best colors. And then in the spring, I like lightening things up a bit and going with lighter, brighter colors.

This outfit looks fab on you! You've done a great job at making it summery. I am not very particular about limiting colors to one season or the other. But I've always been a bit of a rebel

I love wearing white jeans in winter so why not burgundy jeans in summer? I have very few items pulled out of my closet as out of season. The ones that I'm not wearing now are due to fabric not color.

I think of burgundy as a festive color. Especially paired with whites and creams! Nothing wrong with looking festive though ^_^

I wear all colors in all seasons. I just lighten or darken as necessary

Well, contrary to all appearances - I'm reluctant to wear black in summer.

The burgundy looks great, esp. with the strappy shoes. The shoes, plus the ecru, give a nice summery feel.

Suz, firecracker, pil--to my surprise the cardi *matches* the shoes! both in color and pointiness, so wearing them together makes me feel instantly pulled together!

I think it looks great but I am one to throw caution to the wind w/ colors and seasons. I love neon, pastels, bright tones, patterns, all of it ... year round. I get a lot of enjoyment from colors and so I wear it year round. I figure they wouldn't make things in 'off season' colors for that season, if not meant to be worn! But even if they did, I'd sill wear them! :)

Beautiful! I love the details, too--earrings, belt, shoes. To me, the light cardi and tee, plus those fab shoes really make the outfit perfect for summer. You'd wear black pants in the summer, wouldn't you? Why not burgundy? I'm always especially at ease wearing darker colors in summer if it's a cloudy day, too.

I love this, Jody! Gorgeous. That sweater is almost as big a workhorse for you as the shoes.

I am a huge fan of burgundy in summer. It looks great with pink, too. ;)

Colours I don't wear in summer....hmmm. That is tough. I wear most of my colours in summer. It's more in winter that I put some brakes on.

For instance, I love and wear almost all blues, as you know. But I can't wear cobalt so well in winter -- it's too intense for me, somehow. All the more reason to pull it out often in summer!! I wouldn't wear any neon tone in winter, either, OR any pastel apart from pale blue or grey, and even those with caution.

If I wore brown, I might avoid it in spring/ summer. But since I don't really wear it (except as taupe) that's a non-issue.

A year and a half ago I posted these pants and asked if I could wear them in Summer. I received tons of great ideas, none of which I put into practice due to my abiding belief that burgundy and summer didn't mix. But today perusing the NAS catalog, I saw a lovely look with burgundy and soft ecru. Inspired, I pulled together this outfit. I used another "Winter" piece, the belt, and my garnet earrings which I love even though they show up black against my hair.

Here it is. I wished I had a cream tee, but I thought the white turned out okay. What do you think? Are there colors you won't wear in Summer?
