I was so happy to now have coats that I actually WANT to wear! Today I wore my soft faux fur jacket (one of Angie's picks). Yesterday I wore a very cozy Vince sweater coat. Both are toasty and comfy to wear.

I am craving an Ugg robe that I put on my Christmas list. If my dear mom does get it for me, I hope to spend a whole day in it!

Me? Well, cashmere, of course. (and well merino will do in a pinch and thank goodness Zara didnt "get me" so those 8 sweaters are going back... ) I can leave your HL enabling link b/c I cant possibly imagine what i can do with my arms to keep warm enough there. Same for those JCrew Tippi's... 3/4 sleeves? It is winter! Warmth to my wrists please

As Fi, said, it is summer here (due to be over 100 F this weekend)
When it is winter, which I feel a lot though of course it is nowhere near as cold, I crave clothes that wrap around, turtlenecks, dressing gowns. It isn't unknown for me to wear my puffer coat all day long in an unheated house. And I MUST wear socks to bed or I can't sleep.

I really like being completely covered, even when it is just a little cool. That is why 3/4 sleeves don't do it for me.

Well, I bought the HL top. I'll probably return it and hope it goes on sale (it is way way more than I'd usually spend on a top), but first I'll take some photos when I get home to see if it works on me. It's a bit more bodycon on me than I was looking for but very flattering.

As I walked back from Saks, I was hit by a burst of inspiration and stopped by Britex Fabrics (our amazing fabric store, almost as cool as Mood in Project Runway) and found a pure wool knit that is very similar to the HL Sonar fabric. For, er, $90 a yard. But I am tempted to try my hand at making a few similar tops. I also found a lighter wool knit that reminds me of some drapey Rick Owens clothes. That fabric was only $30/yd and was actually Yigal Azrouel fabric (another designer in the same vein). I'm tempted to try making a t-shirt and maybe harem/sweat pants. But with my track record on sewing projects it's unlikely I'll get around to it.

I love the HL top - just gorgeous!! and the Rick Owens sweat pants just look fabulously cozy!! Hope they end up in your closet!

Just the word "wool" gives me hives. I too, prefer cashmere, polar fleece or heavy cotton against my skin in winter.

I would love a pair of cashmere sweatpants, but I know they would just pill from friction and I'd wreck them.

I tend to look for clothing that's extremely soft, particularly for lounge wear. I also really love flannel in winter.

And Angie is absolutely right about the Lands End winter coats. I looove mine and actually look forward to wearing it because it's the perfect combination of snow bunny stylish and super warm.

I've noticed that winter is a minefield of sensory issues for me. I can't stand anything even a little bit itchy or that feels too heavy on my body, especially across my shoulders. I wear my wool sweaters often, but I weirdly have to force myself to do it because they typically aren't as soft to the touch as, say, polar fleece. I'm fine once they're on my body (especially with a soft underlayer); it's just getting over that initial mental hurdle.

Even so, I enjoy winter dressing in November/December/January. By February, I'm lusting after the resort collections and pretty spring things. :)

Winter is my favorite season because I get to wear the things I love the most like coats and boots and pretty knitted hats and scarves. I find snow magical and there is nothing better than a cup of warm tea after a walk in the snow. Like Diana, I find myself craving yarn. I think it is a nesting instinct for me. Currently, I am craving cozy wool and cotton sweaters and would love some silk thermals and thick wool socks.

I loved E's post! and Grey scale, I'm not. Clicking. On. Your. Links. Lead me not in to temptation, and all that. ;-)

Smartwool/Icebreaker leggings and a half-zip top or hoodie. But friends swear this cold snap will pass soon. I meant to pick up a beanie today. Maybe I'll justify Smartwool underduds if they're part of my 60-liter wardrobe.

And fleece. I don't have any right now. And more scarves.

Tonight I wore my sweater dress with tights and riding-style boots to neighborhood holiday potluck. It felt cosy. I like cosy.

I keep staring at all the giant oversized wool jackets I see. I'm not sure I'd wear one outside of this strangely unseasonable cold we're getting, but that doesn't stop me from looking!

On a less fashionable front, I keep wishing I'd bought some sweatpants I saw when I was visiting my college bookstore a couple weeks ago. I would love to have a pair of sweatpants to curl up in bed in right now.

It's been uncharacteristically cold here in Phoenix as well, and when I'm cold I lose all sense of reason. I'm craving cashmere sweaters, three-ply please, and an enormous sweater coat, wrap style. The one merino sweater I picked up at Goodwill over the summer for a trip back east has seen almost constant use. I'm glad I hung onto it once I got home! However, these thin layers don't keep me warm when it's this cold. A really heavy wool fisherman's sweater would be just the ticket! It will be back up to 70F this weekend though, so I'm just trying to hold off ordering boots, puffers and sweaters. Someone hold me. I need some body heat. ;P

Oh I just realised this was about craving things to buy, not that you already own! lol I'm debating between brands and colours before placing my first big yarn order, enough to knit a sweater, so that's probably my big craving. I have to wait until after Christmas though because I put my top 3 choices on my Christmas list so don't want to duplicate in case Santa brings me some! ;)

Both you and Suz would look stunning in that top.

I love the cold, because I love wool and hot drinks and cuddling under blankets and the crispness in the air during walks.

So yep, once the temperatures drop, I wear wool every day (one of my knee high boots are even wool lined, hehe) and drink lots of tea & chai & hot cocoa. I would *love* to find soft wool knit sweats for my cold weather pjs. I already have a couple oversized sweaters (one cashmere, one lambswool) perfect for sleeping in and oversized alpaca slipper socks; sweats are all I need!

Agreed. A top would make a lot more sense than a dress in this fabric and would last longer. Well, if I get a bit of birthday money I might just have to investigate this further. Hmmmm. The sapphire sounds amazing.

I know, isn't it perfect? It comes in a dark sapphire color too. Not to be an enabler or anything. But yes, I love it and I might also pay full price - I never ever do that. I've always liked the dresses from the same line but I rarely wear dresses, so the top that just came out this season seems perfect for me.

I have decent luck waiting for Helmut Lang to show up at Nordstrom Rack or on clearance at department stores, though this particular top hasn't been on sale yet and seems to be selling out at full price. :( AllSaints is really no cheaper than HL and rarely goes on sale.

OMG. WHY did you have to show me that Helmut Lang top? Now that is my idea of a perfect sleeveless turtleneck!! It is gorgeous!

Do those things ever go on sale? I would almost be willing to pay full price.

I crave cozy wool or cashmere, too. I had sworn off cardigans because of the frump factor. All I want now for my work-at-home days is cardigans. But I want the Helmut Lang / Rick Owens versions of cardigans, and those do not come cheap.

Speaking of which. where does one find slightly avant guard shapes at a slightly lower price point? All Saints, maybe? But I can't try on in person, alas...

I buy yarn! Currently, gigantic cones of cashmere. Unfortunately I can buy it a lot faster than I can knit it!
