I am really struck by the flow and line in #2. Beautiful (safety pins... *chuckling* great idea to test something before committing to the sewing time ).

Oooh, ambergreen, show us your necklace/outfit!

Thanks Marmee, Laura, Lisa, and rachylou!

E, Aziraphale, and Ceit, I keep trying to love brown, but it really doesn’t love me back! Unrequited love, sigh …

Thistle, the second one is just off all around, but it was fun to wear.

Aubergine, you should dig out that pendant and wear it. My Granny got hers in Hong Kong, I think.

I think the lesson to be learned from this is that I shouldn't buy any more brown tops, and for the ones I do have, they need a nice pop of one of my "good" colors by the face.

The first one is great! I think I have a very similar jade pendant somewhere or other, which my grandparents brought back from a trip to China a long time ago.

In the second one, I love how everything looks up top with the chambray collar, sweater, and necklace all layered together and also really like the skirt, but agree that there might be a little too much brown when everything's combined

I like the first one a lot. Not sure why the second one doesn't sing to me. It might be the pattern on the skirt. I like the shapes, but perhaps the pattern is fighting with it. Back to my troubles with color

The green looks great! Not sure about outfit #2. The collar poking out works, but I think overall there is too much brown, what with your brown hair and brown eyes. (Sorry to be a spanner, but honesty is better than fibbing).

Fun! I love the shapes in #2 (and it doesn't look costume-y to me), but I think you're right in thinking you look your best in cooler colours than warm. Your bone structure looks much sharper in 1 than 2. (I say that as you mentioned you're experimenting.) Lol @ the safety pins; I've relied on those to hold up trousers and skirts on more than one occasion. They haven't failed me yet! ;)

You have a very good natured husband; I'm a trifle possessive over my woolens. hehe

As always, I love seeing your accessories! I bet your jewelry cabinet/stand/storage system must be a sight to behold.

You're pretty awesome in green. I like the colour of the sweater and jacket together - and with the jewelry.

I like the brown sweater, skirt, and denim shirt outfit too. I like the way denim collar peeks out. I'm wondering how the shirt would look tucked...

These are experiments, so perhaps not the most flattering or fashion forward outfits I've ever posted, but I liked them well enough that I wore them to work (where work means sitting at my cubicle at the museum and dissertating), and I'm really enjoying experimenting in my (and my husband's, haha) wardrobe.

1) Monday - Y'all were so enthusiastic about green last week that I decided to try this pullover of hubs that I'd originally passed over. It's got a green pattern running through a brown?black?navy? (I genuinely can't tell) background. I paired it with olive trousers and brown Chelsea boots. This all felt pretty west, so for some east balance I added an old silk chiffon scarf (that never gets worn b/c I have so little green in my wardrobe), my Granny's jade pendant, and these awesome Indian dangly hoop earrings.

2) Tuesday/today - so I cut off the top of this dress as you all recommended awhile back. This left the skirt literally falling off my nonexistant butt/hips, so I've got it pinned with 4 safety pins - let's hope they hold! Frye boots, denim/chambray button up and warm brown wool sweater. This felt very schoolmarm on the prairie and a bit more costumey than I usually like, but I went with it anyway. To add some east I tried a long strand of pearls and then jade, but they just added to the schoolmarm look, so I went with a lapiz choker (with a chain extender) instead. Oh, and silver ohm earrings too. I would have liked this much better if that pullover wasn't three sizes too big, but it's what I have to work with for now.

Oh, and Husband totally busted me this weekend. He was all, "Didn't I used to have some wool sweaters??" I had to admit I had most of them down at my apartment and promised I'd bring some back this coming weekend!

Thanks for looking (and reading that epic, if you did). Suggestions/comments always welcome!
