Oooh, I love bronze, though I don't wear it much as it is a warmer hue than most of the colors I wear. I love the first bronze boots and the first pair of slingbacks. I can see the bronze zippered boots really working for your style.

Very nice items, Jenni. My favourites are #1 and #5. Bronze is beautiful--and looks perfect in fall of course. However, like other metallics it is probably versatile year round.

Thank you Chris, I do like it! I own 2 pairs of loafers but wear less due to the sock issue in winter. Prefer boots. That is a lovely bronze sheen on it.

While looking for cognac or brown loafers i came across one that also comes in bronze. Not sure it’s your style but posting it here, maybe good for inspiration. To me bronze could play well with browns of all kinds, but could work with lots of other colors too.

Oh thank you FashIntern! I am not sure if I could help or not, but I do know some Spanish or Portugese brands ( eg Fly London ) and do sometimes check out Amazon UK. Maybe you should start a new thread so European Fabbers could help you as well?
Our new house is in the back yard of our current house ( we subdivided), and initially we will not sell the old one but probably rent it out. So will still be able to see where the kids grew up. And the back yard of where they grew up and David turned the trampoline on its side to be a soccer goal is where the new house is standing. It was financial really- our area is very popular and needs more housing, and the back yard was becoming unusual. We thought we should get the capital gain out of it after owning for such a long time, rather than someone else. No regrets at this stage. Soccer field back yards not needed any more. Now he prefers computer games...

Joy, interesting thought about formality/informality. I tend to pair metals in my mind the way you do, but see the less clear/sparkly kinds as more interesting/less blingy versions (“Bling” being a quick flash that doesn’t linger)

Jenni, amazing to move from the house where your grown up kids were babies, I’m sure! (Did I tell about Isaac & the basket on here?) I had to laugh at your comment about David not helping much, but being good for lifting/carrying heavy things, because it sounds just like my son. I was warned that boys do that, but didn’t believe it until now. We are staying in an apt with a loft bed right now. He can easily reach up to set something on it; I cannot. For the first time in my life, I may understand how my mom feels about storing things on top of the fridge, lol!

You mention the “shoe search” portion of your brain being highly developed; I’m tempted to ask your for help. I’m slowly figuring out what kind of shoes I want to get here that will carry me over until I have the rest of my things (some in a couple weeks, some at the end of the month) and will continue to be useful after that. I think I know what I want, but I can’t find them anywhere!

I have not read the other responses yet, but love bronze as an informal version of gold as pewter is to silver. I don't have much in bronze, so mix it with gold. It is a great warm metal to wear informally.

Thanks everyone! Rachylou and Katerina, I haven't worn the beautiful peplum top yet. It represents the new wardrobe both the actual walk-in closest and the type of clothing I wish to have in it, to me. It is my only unworn piece. It should still suit the temps when we are in the house by end of this month we hope.
Sal, no problem you didn't get metallic pumps! I was never sure the slingbacks were right anyway. Your new black ones looked awesome. I was amused though at my own brain which could develop such an obsession when supposedly enjoying myself searching for free for a friend! Clearly I am now hard wired that way- they say if you use certain neurones a lot the brain's pathways get set. I agree with you that bronze will be good with black and maybe cobalt ( good idea) but not so much red. With cobalt it could function similar to how rust/orange currently does.
Bijou, thank you, the flat black boots have been an incredible win. They are under $2 per wear. They are so comfy and fit like a glove, they're on, zipped, I'm out the door and never think about my feet until the end of the day. Similar to my cobalt blue boots which are the other heavily worn winter ones. So even though the second bronze pair are $240-something, I am probably better to bite the bullet there than pay the $150 for the first pair with all the attendant hassle of needing to order two sizes. I do have a separate account for clothing which had not run dry even though the house fund is getting very depleted! We don't want to borrow more money for furniture and landscaping so they will happen more gradually...
Carla, thank you, I loved Little Women and rather liked Amy although thinking of her as a spoilt brat originally! Think my copy may be in a box under our current house...have to clear all that and move it soon, will look for it to read!
Angie, thanks, pleased to have your tick.
FashIntern, you're right I'm not too bothered by duplicating styles. Love your bronze babies- they were also in my Finds. They're really pretty.
Jane, thank you. Building a house has been an amazing time- several hiccups along the way and taking longer but choosing things has been awesome after living 27 years in our current house which is 1957 and rather cold. Now for clearing out 27 years of stuff... the girls ( 27 and 24) have been helping. Rebecca was a 7 month old baby when we moved in here. David now 22 is not much help but he will be of help to lift heavy items

Bronze is a gorgeous colour, and the reference to Little Women is fun. I like the first boots or the third pair especially. How super to see your new wardrobes (and the rest of the house) coming together.

Jenni, I have to smile at an obsession so broad (shoes) that you have a sub-obsession (bronze shoes) within it. I’m over here wracking my brain to come up with good winter shoes that won’t duplicate or be similar to anything that’s on the way. I don’t think that would worry you ;)

I love that first pair of slingbacks! I feel like slingbacks have taken a beating around here lately, with people complaining that the strap falls down. But compare them to mules and the glass is half full—at least there is a strap there!

Btw, I can’t wait til my bronze babies get here. By the time I got them, it was too warm to wear them, but I’ll have plenty of opportunity now!

Sal, I wear a 10 in US shoes, and a 40 in Euro. Never much variation.

Complete tangent, but in the book 'Little Women' by Louisa May Alcott, one of the characters (I think it was Amy) was obsessed by 'bronze boots' a fashion trend at the time. The only bronze boots I knew of were from the adds in the back of women's magazines inviting folks to send baby's first boots for bronzing as a keepsake! As a 9 year old reader I could not wrap my head around why a young woman of the American civil war era would want to wear bronze boots!

Jenni, your obsession has a literary precedent and you are in good company with one of Alcott's March sisters!

The first bronze boots are beautiful, so I can see how these became a shoe obsession for you. Goodness, I am tempted myself they are so lovely. However, I know from your previous post that you were concerned that the heel may be too high. I like the idea of buying boot #3. The style works for your feet, anything worn 64 times within 6 months is an absolute winner, especially given this is you and you have many shoe options... Love your peplum top, I hope you post a picture of when you wear it.

You are really buying some wonderful items that are worthy of that fabulous new wardrobe!

I think there are more US sizes than Euro - I think a 9 and 9.5 are both a 40?

I think the bronze is lovely - sorry for not buying the pumps!! I find metallic versatile - but it does show wear more quickly than leather and can't be nuggeted.

I think a small bronze capsule could be great - a pair of shoes, a top, maybe necklace or scarf or bag. I can see it with cobalt and with black - not so much with red?

Thanks Gryffin for the inspiration to start this thread. I am being much more careful with this obsession than usual. I am supposed to be clearing out my wardrobe not adding to it. The walk-in wardrobe in the new house is almost, almost finished, it needs its shoe racks, jewellery drawers, and its mirror for my future WIWs! I'm not too sure when this obsession started, I got a free gift of bronze large stud earrings from a shop I liked maybe about 2000- the shop is long since gone! And bought my mixed metal necklace with bronze in about 2008. So a gradual love I suppose.
When I was checking out metallic shoes for Sal 4 months ago I got a bit obsessed with some of those, and while not right for what she wanted also saw these gorgeous bronze boots ( Hush Puppies Verified bronze suede) and even tried a pair on, can't remember which size. I think they were decently comfortable but not a slam-dunk for comfort- but I suspect I had to try on a size too big as that was what they had instore, and they no longer do? Still available on-line though at 1/4 off. Buying two sizes would be annoying... as not sure which size will fit 5 or 6. Is a 5 a Euro 36? Or is that a 5.5- as I am usually a Euro 36. So I may be in between those sizes and neither would fit!
Meanwhile, on Styletread I have discovered an interesting phenomenon. My black Maria Rossi boots I bought on 1 April and have worn already 64 times, seem to have exactly the same last and type of perforated leather, and notch at the back, as these bronze Beltrami boots. I cannot find from a Google search if it is the same maker. But it must be, right? And the same size- only the zip goes the opposite way and there are two zips on the bronze ones. But maybe they would be better than the heeled ones. They are more expensive than the heeled ones and more than the excellent price I got the black fringed ones for (that was $ NZ 110.) I am not sure if should try both or neither.
Will also give you some eye candy of the many other beautiful bronze shoes I have been tempted by in the past few months. Especially pic 7 as I thought they would be lovely with my new peplum top in pic 8- and at the time they even had a matching bag! But I am not made of money and I thought they looked a bit too mother-of-the-bride-ish. Luckily my size and the matching bag have gone, phew.
Thoughts, advice? Voices of reason??! Cheers x
