My mum is a big fan of bling. </p> <p>Lana, I have used shoe polish to restore a leather jacket, so I think it could work! I think you’d have to be careful of bag straps mostly. With the jacket I restored (my ombré jacket), I haven’t had any instances of the polish coming off on anything. It took some time to do but was worth it. But I wouldn’t wear a light coloured strap bag over it (just in case). The other thing to be aware of is that it’s quite hard to achieve an even coverage with metallic shoe polish. That doesn’t matter so much on shoes but is more obvious over the area of a jacket. I have added a metallic sheen to a handbag using shoe polish (see find below) and on close inspection you can see the coverage is uneven. In some ways I think that is attractive. I mostly kept it because it is cotton, which is good for my climate. Lightweight cotton moto jackets are hard to find and I prefer them to denim jackets (which are easy to find). I do find some edit decisions are easy but some are very finely balanced. And I need a rain poncho too! I do have a “lightweight” raincoat but it makes me sweat bricks in this humidity. It’s an FP jacket that I’ve had for years. It has that distressed effect that FP often goes for. I like it but brown was out of fashion for so long I often thought about editing it out. I think it may have found a friend at last with the skirt.</p> <p>Underneath I wore a tank top from Topshop. I got about 10 of these in different colours. I plan to wear them as a cami in winter, but they are still nice enough and the right length to wear as stand-alone tops with my skirts in warmer weather. And cotton! This is a tan one that I dyed a reddish brown. It may look seasonally confused with the boots but it works for me because it’s very wet and very humid at the moment. I need the boots for the wet walk home and the tank top for the humidity. I get sticky fast.</p> <p>I’ve been using my beloved Missoni umbrella a lot, and I thought it tied in nicely with this outfit. Unfortunately it’s not the shape it once was. Sad. My husband has fixed it 3 times. </p> <p>Bonus pic of my little upstager having an ear massage while we watched a movie. Ms B is proof that brown is never out of fashion. </p>
