I'd say that's like buying new underwear rather than real "clothing". Replacing an already-existing worn-out item doesn't really qualify as breaking SYC to me.

But I'm still in shop mode, so I'll let the true SYCers have the final say!

Kate, thanks lol! I am indeed a newbie but find I have a whole lot of clothes. So I thought I might be able to better sift through the good and the bad with the ban on bringing in more. And when I think about the fact that work clothes aren't even a part of the equation (jeans is my uniform with a logo'd tee), it's even more astonishing how much stuff I have. But don't ever tell the BF I admitted to having too many clothes!!

I think the purchase is totally justifiable, and you should keep them. You're a YLF newbie, so nobody can expect you to have a perfect record with SYC. In fact, I'm astonished that you're even willing to try SYC given how recently you came to YLF.

Now go wear your leggings and be happy!

Okay, this is nowhere near as riveting as Laura's LBD dilemna, but I did pick something up yesterday. I was at BigLots of all places (looking for dye) and buying toiler paper when I spied simple black leggings. I know - how tacky to buy clothes there, huh?!? But it was almost like buying socks if you know what I mean. Almost utilitarian. I have black leggings in Tahoe I was going to grab on my trip in 2 weeks. BUT . . . they are over a decade old easily and therefore the cotton kind that your outer layers stick to and they are quite high rised and frankly too faded to be up to snuff.
The other factor at play here is the $7 price tag. I find I excuse just about any purchase under $10. I have oodles of layer tanks and tops that were even under $3. And decent ones - NY & Co, BR, American Eagle, etc. The funny thing about that is I buy them knowing they are easily discardable but then when it comes time I have as hard a time parting with the $3 shirts as I do $40 or more. Silly!
Anyway, this is my confession. I justified it in my head along these lines and because I have a gym ID tag to return that covers the cost lol. Still trying my best to make it through Christmas, though! Back onboard.
