Agree with everyone else: I immediately thought of a J. Crew look that combines much more casual or rugged elements with the brocade skirt.

It sure sounds versatile to me!! Pair with a simple, collarless top and a scarf for a more relaxed look. Jenava's suggestions are right on the money. Belt a white tunic shirt over it and add casual jewelry and flats... Have you got a leather moto jacket? Even if you don't, sounds to me like you have loads of options!

I was also going to suggest a sweater and booties or boots. I don't see why it wouldn't be versatile.

Oh, a denim shirt and an oxford! Very J.crew. I have a fancy brocade jacket that I'm planning to wear with distressed denim and a flat slouchy ankle boot.

If you don't have a denim shirt you could also try a chunky, cozy, oversized sweater...

Or a bf cardi over a tank with a pair of flats (oxfords or just ballet flats or flat maryjanes)

Hi Ladies,
As I give up all attempts to stop shopping and keep finding stuff I want(it's a disease I think), I have stumbled on a brocade pencil skirt at AT that I love. It is a more muted skirt and unfortunately not on their webpage so I can't link to it. But it fits perfectly off the rack, which is RARE for me and I have wanted one for a while.BUT I started thinking, which I always do if something costs more than I want to pay for it, how do I wear this outside of dressy nights out? I don't have many of those dress up eveings so I don't want to buy a skirt that I end up wearing twice a year!
Any ideas on how to make a brocade skirt less dressy and able to wear during the day? The denim jacket combo idea is out for me since I do not own one... Thank for your ideas!
