Lo and behold, the sale rack had one pair of the Sigrid “low rise” (actually a very moderate 10.5”) wide leg jeans in this light wash with inserts at the bottom of the leg. They were only there in the smaller of my usual sizes (an 8 so my hopes were not high), but I tried them on and they came home with me. For a whopping $26! I hesitated for just a moment because I wondered if they looked too young and trendy, but the secret as always is in the styling. </p> <p>They are just barely long enough for me, so they require my lowest footwear. No heels. So I took the opportunity to take my old low-profile oxfords out of retirement. I wore the jeans a few days ago with my old dark green Freda Salvador oxfords and a striped shirt from Anthro, tied at the waist. It felt good, so yesterday I went with the formula again, this time with the blue and white jacket/top I got earlier this year and my very old blue Cole Haan oxfords. I ran errands, took a walk around my old stomping ground in a lovely old neighborhood in the city (obligatory fall leaves and sidewalk photo included), and went to a happy hour concert. </p> <p>Have you ever found that a single purchase helps bring an old neglected favorite back into rotation? </p>
