I haven't really worn designer clothing, but I have broken up with brands and stores. Generally it has occurred over time - with age, as my professional life grew, my income increased, etc. I would say that I have given up most of the Gap, Esprit, Old Navy (which was a good thing, in my view). I am looking for more made in U.S. or made in Canada work pieces now.

I am with Debs. I haven't ever done designers really, but I have broken up with stores....like I don't even go into certain stores any more because they now look too frumpy for me or the fit is too big/small. I used to love Vivikes here in Norway, and Ingunn would tell you, it is a good thing I have left them behind now.

I would love the opportunity to break up with Rick Owens! Lol! His designs stretch my budget so our relationship is pure fantasy at this stage.

Interesting thread. I have definitely broken up with brands, usually due to lessening quality or feeling it too young (used to buy tees and casual pants at AE) but never with a designer.

There are certainly brands/designers I would like to wear but don't fit me at all. EF and Max Mara come to mind.

I *am* attracted to EF....but have never been able to wear the clothes except for the rare piece that isn't really EF-like in the first place. They don't fit right -- and even if they did, they don't look right on me.

I haven't really broken up with a designer but I sort of lost my early love for Betsy Johnson and even Gunhouse and Cornish, to a degree. Too...retro/ girly.

Yep. Catherine Malandrino. Too girly for me now. I'm sure there are others too, I'm just drawing a blank at the moment.

I've never been attracted to EF, except for a rare piece here and there. Sadly, I don't wear drapey very well. I guess I'm too curvy and crave more structure.

I broke up with Bebe, decided to go a little less bodycon. I haven't found a new designer love yet though.

Yes, Isabel Marant. She has raised her prices way too much, even her Etoile line has become quite expensive.

Ah, breakups are hard. But at least this one doesn't require a box of tissues and a carton of Ben and Jerry's!

So as I noted on another thread, a label I love - Eileen Fisher - just doesn't fit my current body any more. It fit when I was skinny, but not lifting weights like I am now. It fit really well when I was carrying about 15-20 more pounds and not working out at all!

I really love EF's fabrics and designs, but I have to look really hard on eBay to find PS items from years past.

Goodbye, EF, goodybe - for now.

Anyone else migrated away from previously-beloved fashion lines?
