Well this gives me WAY more options than I have come up with on my own, and fair bit of education about bra sizing to boot! Thank you ladies! My one take away about bra sizing that I would never have found if I hadn't been prompted by comments here to research, was that there is breast tissue to the sides that need to be pulled into the bra cup. It turns out all of my A cup bras are on the tight side when I do that. This lack of knowledge is possibly due to a combination of over a decade spent bra free (except for job interviews, very occasional dress up, and the last 4 months of my pregnancy) and my breast changing shape somewhat after pregnancy and 3 years worth of breastfeeding (when I owned and wore exactly 0 bras).

As to band size, I am absolutely not a 34, as every single one I have ever tried to own over the years (because I loved the color or the design) slides up onto my breasts painfully during normal everyday movement. It's definitely not about personal preference, but fit. It is possible that I wear a larger band than my size because bras are still a foreign thing. Next time I find one, I will try a 30 band and see what I think.

Adding my voice to those who say that cup size is scaled so a 30D is not huge by any means. Also agreeing with all about the Natori Feathers. I think it is best if your breasts are widely spaced but also very important to try different sizes in this bra -- I needed to size up to a 30DD in this one because the cups are very small.

I am another member of the small-breasted club (32 C, though probably truly a 30D) and I found that the Natori Feathers didn't really work for me (and I tried a variety of sizes)--I think it's meant for more widely spaced and lower-set breasts than I have? I read all the rave reviews on YLF so I tried some on at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and was very disappointed. It's weird though because other Natori bras, with a more rounded profile, fit me much better.

At my local Nordstrom Rack, they have quite a few 32Bs (too small for me), from nice designers at extremely good prices (less than $25).

Just another vote for the Natori Feathers. I am a 34A and this is my favorite bra. It's very, very lightly padded so very natural, and it fits my small, low volume breasts very well. I like to pick these up when they go on sale because they are pricey, but they hold up really well and the fit is impeccable. Good luck.

Do you understand how cup sizing (as distinct from band sizing) scales? A 28D is equal in volume to a 30C is equal in volume to a 32B, so it's really not that large. That said, calculators don't take personal fit preferences into account. I measure as a 30B--29.5" underbust, 31.5" at widest point--but find 30 bands to be uncomfortably tight even though they fit. I don't need the extra support so I wear my sister size, 32A.

I love the Natori Feathers bra, which has already been mentioned above, for everyday wear. It's lined/very lightly padded, just enough for nipple coverage. The fun seasonal colors are the ones that go on sale every few months, so you can get them in the $40 range and they will last for years if you keep them out of the dryer (I machine wash with my delicates and regular laundry detergent; hand washing with gentle detergent would keep bras in even better shape). Note that I take a 32B in the Feathers bra, where the rest of my current bra collection--including other Natori styles--is 32A. The Feathers cup runs really shallow IMO.

Another really comfy bra, and totally unlined, is the Timpa Duet. I actually take a 32B in this one as well because it's cut REALLY low and I prefer a bit more coverage. Also good for shallow cups, and it's relatively affordable at $36 regular price (less with promotions).

If you want little to no padding, have you looked at bralettes? Lots of gorgeous inexpensive styles around right now. Try aerie, gap (xs) and even urban outfitters. I am pretty small (32Bish) and don't want padding to look bigger, and those brands have worked for me. Good luck!

I wear a 32C. Lots of places never seem to have them in stock - and Anthropologie, Kohl's and Target I know don't believe this is different from a 34B. I have a theory that the few bras made in this size are mostly sent straight to Ross and Marshall's, because that's where I find them! Also, Nordstrom had for awhile Elle MacPherson, which I liked and did smaller sizes.

La Pedestrienne: I will check them out!

Cobalt: Target is really hit or miss. I can do the lightly padded T-shirt bras, which I very rarely find in a color other than the neutrals (black, white, gray), but the rest tend to have the cups too close together for me or very padded.

Suz: thank you for the suggestions! I looked up sizing for bras based on your suggestion that I might be a different size that I think. I tried several online calculators, and the sizes they came up with were so ridiculous it would have made me want to cry if I weren't laughing so hard. My little breasts are definitely not a 32D! Not even a C or B. And I know for sure that 34 is too big of a band size and always has been (for the sites that calculated 34A). This site however said I am a 28 D: http://www.sophisticatedpair.c.....alculator/
Possibly I just complicated the bra shopping issue, especially since I also don't think I've ever seen that size where I shop.

Joy: I've never had much luck with the ones I've been too. 32A is frequently a very small selection or none at all. I live in the suburbs now and shop in suburban stores and I'm starting to wonder if perhaps I'm in the wrong area for my size.

Thin White Duchess, Dee, & Astrid: Thank you for the suggestions!

I should probably say here that I never ever ever buy clothing online unless I tried it on first in a store. I'm terrible about returning things that I buy online if they don't work out for me besides liking to touch and try on my clothes before I purchase them . So even though I saw some beautiful bras in the online sites, I'm really looking for a store I can go shopping in locally.

It is wonderful to have some ideas for other places to go look.

If you have a Nordstrom Rack, scour their bras, especially clearance. Also, be sure that you are really the size that you think you are. I thought I was a 34- barely A or 32 A but am really a 30D. I can also wear a 32C in some styles, which gives me more color options. The Nordstrom's lingerie SAs steered me toward Betsy Johnson and Cakvin Klein, both of which have nice non-padded bras. I even was able to get a CK without underwire for plane travel a few years ago when they would set off the security alarms at security checks. Natori "feathers" also works. These styles come in all sorts of colors and are very inexpensive at the Rack. I have cobalt, hot pink, red, coral, orange, chocolate and yellow as well as some prints and lacy nude and blacks...most in 30A. They are out there.

I was an A cup for many years and found bras by Natori to work well. They're lined/structured but not necessarily padded. They're a bit pricey though.

I don't know if they have a 32A, but Calvin Klein bras often for me well in an 34A and you can often find them on sale/clearance for $20-25.

I agree with all the advice you've received so far- those are all great options. One more option would be to look for styles from Asian brands online, even on Amazon. The sizing and return possibilities may be hard, but if you can figure out a brand and size that works it might be a good source.

Some people swear by Gap's bras and occasionally they come in a colour.

Others like the Little Bra Company or LulaLu. I haven't personally tried theirs but I'm not sure some would work as they are for people with truly petite proportions overall.

For myself, I resigned to paying more but buying fewer, rotating them, and treating gently. One of the brands that works is Mimi Holiday. Some bras by Simone Perele, Chantelle, and the Natori Feathers can also work.

My main advice is get properly sized. I always assumed I was a 32 A or B but I'm actually a 30 D or (in some styles) DD with wide spaced breasts.

If you are like me and slender with an A cup (32 A) then you likely know that Victoria Secret does not even consider your ladies big enough to bother making a bra for and other places seem to think that those little things could only ever be wanting for a good dose of padding. I usually only can find practical bras in dull colors in my price range. If I had the funds I could go to a expensive lingerie shop, but I don't have a lot of funds.

I recently found a bunch of beautiful non-padded bras in my size at a reasonable price at Forever 21. It was the most excited I've gotten about bra shopping in a very long time.

Usually I score some prettier bras in my size from the junior department during prom time, but they are always still padded. Where do you go for pretty non-padded bras that are in the $25 and under range? And/or where do you find colorful bras? Especially non-padded or lightly padded (such as t-shirt bras). I love hot pink, turquoise, purple, and red. So far I have only one bra that is not black or grey. I probably should note here that sports bras or those bralettes that have to be pulled over the head are completely out for me (my wide shoulders make them uncomfortable to get on and off when they are small enough to fit properly and I always have a barely containable panic reaction/fear that I am going to get my arms pinned over my head and stuck that way putting on or removing those types of items).

Thanks!
