I've had my eye on some rich browns for a long time and am hoping to find something that works this year. I'm also with you on cream rather than optic white...when cold weather hits, I really dislike optic white.

I've been eyeing those same tights and haven't pulled the trigger due to the price. But I'll have to decide soon, because I think tights like that tend to sell out fast.

Update: the three Everlane pieces arrived and all are keepers! I’ll post pics at some point. It’s a little too hot to wear the cardigan for more than a minute, but supposed to cool down tomorrow. I have some brown cotton-blend tights OTW to try as well.

I’d love to find some more long sleeve crewneck layering tees. I’m always disappointed by how limited the color selections are for long sleeve tees vs short sleeve, so it might take some hunting.

For all the others looking for cottony tights: the ones in the image are from Wolford, the "Cotton Velvet" model. The price gives me pause, but they do look good and I know people rave about Wolford's quality. I think other European brands, like Falke, probably have some options as well. Limited availability in the US.

I'm going to try the Everlane skirt and replenish layering tees at the same time. I have shorts in the same fabric (different colour) that I really like, so I'm hopeful. It will come down to length -- the last couple Everlane skirts I tried were shorter on me than on the model, which is baffling as I'm only 5'4". :)

Angie -- I love the idea of a bias skirt but I'm only seeing them in slippery/shiny fabrics right now. Long ago, I had a bias skirt in pink linen (with a ruffle hem!) that I wore into the ground. It was such a fun skirt...

I am still pondering cardigans. I'd like to try the Everlane one, but I don't like to buy Final Sale, no matter how good the price. I suspect that blend will need a lot of pill-management, and I'll be limited to wearing it with long sleeves underneath (itch factor). But it does seem to be the perfect shape and colour. Hmm.

Good inspiration! Lovely color palette,
It's been pretty warm here for try-ons of warm clothing, but I've been pulling out some of my lighter F-W items and fall colors to see what's what.
One thing I have to guard against is going too warm in color palette, for my coloring, which is mostly cool, slightly neutral. I love all of the true "autumn" colors, they shout Fall and luxurious warmth, and NOT black, but can get me into trouble.
I have in past used scarf colors and print colors to bridge the gap on coloring for fall jacktes/outerwear, but that's kind of phoo for pandemic, with masking, except for home, where I wear somewhat different things to keep warm.

I like that you're listening to your feelings, La Ped! Items aren't dated, but we can absolutely get tired of wearing them - which means bring on the change.

The short V-neck cardi WITH a welt will work better with the flared skirts you're craving, and the high waisted pants and wide crops you have already.

Also, have you thought about bias-cut skirts? Tapered, but VERY roomy, and can work with tights.

Sweater shopping will be fun with so many options! I'm feeling those lighter earth tones and neutrals this fall/winter too. I wonder if that's a marketing trend thing with what's being shown, or something to do with a societal need to feel more light and hopeful after a dark spring/summer.

I was doing camel and cream in the spring and feel like I could go back in that direction, add some light blue to the mix. I'm not feeling ready for the super-dark colors yet either.

I haven't bought much of anything since May, but this is a pretty typical summer pattern for me, not necessarily related to covid. I am definitely shopping/browsing less (not at all, really) -- and that is a result of the pandemic. We've had a couple of chilly, windy, rainy days here, which has me thinking about fall clothes and what I might want to wear. I haven't seen much in catalogs or online that inspires me so far, but I have a handful of ideas. Everlane seems to be coming the closest to offering what I'm picturing in my head.

1. Full midi/knee-length skirts paired with tights and leggings. Tube/straight skirts are feeling a bit tired to me right now; they are usually my go-to skirt silhouette for cooler weather, and I save fuller styles for warm weather and bare legs. I'm not super excited about jeans this year, and have a feeling I'll be wearing a lot of chinos and linen right up until it gets cold enough for corduroy and wool trousers.

Finding skirts in fabrics that don't cling to tights can be a bit of a pain, and I know my cozy tights need to be updated. Most of them are starting to show pills and pulls. Looking specifically for cotton-rich blends; trying to avoid both wool and synthetic as much as possible due to eczema. I would especially like some browns and burgundies for hosiery; charcoal and navy would be good too.

2. Chunky rust/brown knitwear. I've had this on my wish list all year -- a cardigan, specifically. I haven't bitten the bullet because there are *too many* good options, and I want to make sure I pick the right one! I've included a few examples. I will probably go for a v-neck and a looser fit.

3. Soft, light neutrals. The colour of the chino skirt in finds is really appealing to me, along with other off-white, bone, and very pale tan shades. I like the idea of these as accents and layering pieces with bolder colours like rust and mustard, and with darker neutrals like navy and chocolate. Optic/bright white feels a little off to me this year. I am also feeling unexcited by black for the most part and don't plan to add any this year, though I am still wearing and enjoying the black that I do have, especially washed/faded blacks.
